I can only imagine how awkward this is going to be when I get darthappy and slap the Raider Drum in it. Even with my hope that it does not need to be fired with the flashlight flipped over, or I can modify it to topload and fire....it's not gonna be right with my new favorite nerf accessory. I'd imagine it might even strip any gears or whatever mechanisms it uses to operate the movable components.

Thanks goes to Kevinerfcon for his helpfulness in getting this footage. We created a deal, which gets the youtube and NIC communities a sneak peak at how this actually functions (in a video). Nothing ground shaking, but it proves just how fun this new blaster is, even stock!

The Deploy is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Could be because I haven't even seen a recon in real life. I like the way it unfolds at the push of a button. It really does remind me of that Magpul Portable TMP that Onyx posted a few days ago. The one important thing that I noticed was the spring. It seems that the Deploy has one long spring that powers the plunger and also pushes the stock out when it makes the transition from stealth mode to blaster mode. Also, every time the person shoots the gun in the video, it looks like the spring jiggles around in the gun and is not compressed at all. If that's the case, the gun is losing a lot of power. It looks like we need to replace the spring with something just a bit more powerful (and that is actually compressed all the time) to get some decent ranges.

Thanks for the video kevin and ice. You guys were able to satisfy my desire for more news on the Deploy.

Perhaps it's just me but, this thing looks like a great fit as a Leg-Holstered secondary---despite the pathetic Recon-like internals. The fact that it can instantly expand to firing mode means that it could be stored in a decent sized hip-holster (like I currently use for my DTG) in stealth mode. The push-button conversion means that the blaster would be battle ready practically as soon as it was un-holstered. Just a thought...

It does come with a carrying strap. And do you have pics of this holster?

Thats true, yet another storage option. As for my leg Holster, it's actually a Co2 tank holster from my paintball days.

Here is a pic from CFNF #1---it's there on my right hip. The thing holds a DTG with TONS of extra room. There is even a velcro strap on top to keep whatever is in there situated.

It does seem you would be able to carry this around, but is it any smaller than the recon? Does anyone have a scale comparison of the two? I don't see how this could be that much smaller to be worth buying.

Go to 58 seconds in ice's video, then look at the slit on top of the gun that is below his right forearm. Turn's out the batteries are only for the flashlight, because there is a spring in there, which can explain how the stock shoots out so fast.

It's good to see that the opening mechanism isn't powered electronically. I didn't think it made sense otherwise.

Holy Shit! Anyone else drooling over the shotgun fore-grip? :D
Even if it does suck, I WILL be buying this blaster.
So Goddamn sexy.... I don't quite get the whole "conversion" thing.
Can it still fire in "flashlight mode"?

No it doesn't.

I would personally paint over the stock decals. Nothing says ordinary flashlight like the nerf and n-strike logos, right?

It's a shame that Nerf is coming out with a bunch of really cool stuff and just because we can't mod it to kill small animals we don't use it and miss out on all the fun that could come from playing with them stock.

Well said. I've had more fun with stock recons and raiders than any plusbows or crossbows.

I agree, sometimes people forget that Hasbro's job is to make TOYS.

Well, I say we just take all the ugly older guns we have that shoot REALLY well and put them inside the new cool shells? I dunno just a thought. I know it costs 2x as much but really what else can you do? NF internals won't cost you much and would fit inside the smaller ones, I'm planning to put them inside a FuryFire I got and a mav I have sitting around. Like I would with the longstrike, I'm putting LS internals into the new longstrike, I want to put NF or similar internals into the Deploy, although it looks like it may fit LS internals.

So I got a chance to screw around with a Deploy last night. One of the guys that works at Amazon.com up on floor 40-something had one of those and a Longstrike. Neither was loaded since building security would have a fit, but the deploy is pretty cool. It holds very well in my hands, is easy to carry, and after spending a few minutes playing with the release mechanism, it seems like it's surprisingly sturdy. The guy also mentioned that the Deploy got better ranges than the Longstrike, for whatever that's worth.

P.S. He had no idea people knew what the hell the deploy was. According to him it goes live on Amazon. along with the Longstrike, on the 1st of February.

Wow, now this is a gun that will be effective with the round drum.
Looks awesome and can't wait for this blaster.
Unfortunately it has an inverse plunger, but it could still get decent ranges with a good mod.

the only problem is, the scope is filled with roach bodies and roach crap.
