Can Plumber's Putty substitute for bondo? and Can it seal air leaks? (I would assume no... but it's best to hear from the best.)

I'm working a 4B mav, and I need a substitute for bondo... in this case, Plumber's Putty

Yes it can seal leaks (at least for me it did). And replacement for bondo I would say maybe because you would need lots of it. Hope this helps

It was designed to seal piping, so yes it will seal tubing, but if you get the super quick variety it might not hold up to as high of a pressure as you like.

It also can handle force, unlike bondo, but it is much denser than bondo so a large amount will contribute quiet a lot of weight. When cured its sanding properties are about the same as bondo.

Personally, I use Magnum Steel. It's a lot denser, and a lot harder than bondo. It comes in smaller quantities, but it's worth it.

So I can practically use my left over plumber's putty on my blaster, and use sculpt it to my whim and it won't like bust off or anything? I'm not using it to seal or reinforce anything. I'm using it for cosmetic purposes.

Yes you can do that but you have to be sure about it before you do it because one it dries you cant remove it. But like bondo you can sand it.

Wait didn't Zorn just tell me that it can be sanded once it cures?

I think people are talking about epoxy putty (AKA Mighty putty).

EDIT: Oh, plumbers putty. Yeah, I don't think that will seal much.

Yeah... okay... I'll just read the bucket... lol I'm sure it cure's and molds like clay. But I'm gonna check first <_<

I think it's the same stuff, that this one modder used for his Nitefinder. He did a Han Solo NightFinder and he used some thing like my plumber's putty to create a new handle with

Almost a necro (but still not...) but I've got stuff to say.

Plumber's PUTTY is almost absolutely useless in nerfing terms.

The shit weighs so much and is disgusting to work with. It leaves a film on your hands and it DOES NOT HARDEN.

Proof?

Me and my frieng got a namebrand bucket of it and we took out a chunk, flattened it, and left it there for 7 1/2 months.

Today it's still pliable. We tried sealing leaks with it and it just blew off.

So with this nice bucket of putty, we just made balls and threw them around at his neighbors. I don't see it being used for anything.

It's interesting to wrap around FBR and add a weight and use it as a super-heavy dart though.
