So this is an idea I wanted to throw out there that is in development just beyond the concept phase. I did a test run and had satisfactory results and I think there is some GREAT potential for someone who has more than seven free minutes a week to fiddle with NERF.

The idea is pretty simple: use a NERF manufactured magazine (such as for the LongShot, Recon, etc.) as a hopper clip instead of being breach fed. What I'm talking about is making the magazine "air-tight" so that you don't need a breach.

I made a very crude proof of concept and a stock NF fired about 15' but I'm pretty sure that could be greatly improved as my barrel was roughly cut PETG with many snag parts and to "seal" the magazine I just threw on some e-tape and hot glue (obviously not ideal).

Operation:
Essentially you seal your barrel to your magazine via whatever coupling method you desire to use (deodorant container, warped PVC, whatever) and then start firing. Because the magazine is well sealed, the dart fires close to "singled" ranges.

What I'm hoping for:
Get this made well enough to attach to a drum magazine and attach blaster of choice to many rounds of rapid fire awesome. I'm not sure if this will work or not, but it seems possible for a clever modder. Hopefully I find the time to do this or somebody else does and it works well. Could make this very interesting.

I only think it would be effective with a small clip, to reduce the amount of space the air needs to travel.

I like the concept, and like even more that you took the initiative to actually implement it. Post the pictures, even if it only gets 15' range. Otherwise, others may mistake this for a 'concept thread' and will react accordingly.

Not really. All I would do is cut the clips flat and make a mount that could seal them in. I'd also probably make a mag-catch system out of a clothespin trigger.

Would you really need to de-gut the mag though? I was thinking the action could work better with some extra oomph provided by the feed spring.

You would have to use some form of detachable seal however, or else you wouldn't be able to reload it.

Way back in the day, Oompa did a Breechless Deoderant clip. Pretty much what you're thinking of, right?

Yes, kind of. But with them you glue the top on, creating the seal, and then the clip, or deodorant body is the actual clip, is removable. But with the nstrike clips, you can't just glue down a piece of it, like you can with the deodorant ones.

Wow that will be a SHITload of dead space,
also, because of the pressure of the rotation mech, you cannot get the dart to "seal" or enter the barrel, thus the air will travel around the dart instead of pushing it through the barrel.

If used as a hopper clip, the pressure of the darts lying on top of each other will cause the same problem as above.

Or am I mistaking? please post pictures for clarification....

It would cause a large amount of dead space, however, it would just cause a decrease in range, but would still fire.

Deadspace in a clip is much less detrimental than dead space in a barrel. Very different and the former has a much small effect on range than the latter.
