I recently reinforced my nightfinder with sheet metal, on the area where you could see the orange plunger tube. Now, I'm aware that exposed metal isn't too good (same goes with brass and such), and I need a way to cover/fill the sheet metal so it is protected/not exposed. I can then also paint over that area. So my question is, what can I use to neatly and evenly fill/cover that area? I'm afraid bondo will be too much for these two small areas.

Hotglue, then cut it smooth with a razor.

You could use some a' dat dare epoxy putty if I'm understanding you correctly. It paints pretty well, at least the stuff I use does.

You can bondo however small an area as you want. Just mix a really small batch.

Just fill it with epoxy putty and sand it smooth.

Epoxy putty would do the trick, but if you like the metallic look, you could try clear enamel or just a coat of epoxy. Anyways, brass just tarnishes and doesn't rust or corrode, so you don't have much to worry about.

I'm so lost. I get where you talking about, but I don't get why there's metal there. And if so, whats the need to cover it up? Either way, epoxy putty is obviously the choice around here. Its like 4 bucks a tube at walmart.

Thanks for the helpful responses guys. I actually used Don's suggestion, and used some high strength hot glue to cover the sheet metal. Banshee, there is sheet metal there because I reinforced the internals of my nightfinder.
