Son’s 1 Pic Paint Tutorial

I’m not trying to revolutionaries paining: I’m trying to make it as simple as possible to get an ‘alright’ level of personalization.
For the purpose of this thread, here is how I see it:
• Lvl 1- nothing
• Lvl 2 – spray paint one color or imprecise multi colors
• Lvl 3 – spray paint with precision like Hereticorp…and me.
• Lvl 4 thru gozillion – detailed hand painting like Saladin Naz, Dizzy Duck, Wisdom00 and the like.
This is a tutorial to help people at level 1 or 2 reach level 3. Many have spoke of these techniques and do follow them but for the benefit of the NIC I have made it plain as day and simple as hell.
To progress from here: BritNerf has a great tutorial for level 4+ in his profile and Split has a crazy-good tutorial in his post on xbows in the mod directory: I have borrowed from both of these. And also from trial-and-error and the directions on cans of spray paint I use.
DIRECTIONS for the word-learners
• Step 1: Sand sand sand your buns off with high-grit (600 is great, 800 is also great).
• Step 2: Wet a rag with paint thinner and wipe your sanded blaster down.
• Step 3: Many lite layers of Krylon Fusion. Use what ever paint you want but lite layers are the way to go. Krylon’s line of plastic-specific Fusion paints is what I have had the best results with.
PICTURE for the sight learners
Anticipated Q’s
• “What was the temp?” – Like 55, not very humid, and no wind cuz I was in my garage. Warmer is better, moister not so much.
• “How much paint did you use?” – In this pic I used one healthy sweep…should have probably used less.
• “There’s more to it than just that” – yes, that is quite true. This is not for perfect PJ’s, just ones that are a bit better.
Now flood that mod/PJ thread
-Guns shoot bullets that kill people
-Blasters shoot darts that tag people
I do not play with guns.

Exact reason I made the write up: could have saved me a lot of crappy PJ’s. Thx man.I see this as very helpful to new painters out there. I wish I had this information before I did my first spray painting.
1) Yes, but you have to READ them: hence the pictorial guide…for peeps like me1) So what you are really saying here is to read the instructions on the can?
2) sheesh... I don't get a mention on lv4?
2) I feel like I’ve PM’d you at some point about your skillz…maybe. Either way, keep waiving that lvl 4 banner with pride!
1) Seriously? Seriously…1) Nor did I...
2) Good advice thought
