Is it possible to get the end cap on the ls scope off? I've tried prying it off with a screw driver to no avail.

Yes, take a dremel and go along the edges, then it'll look just as clean.

Stick a screwdriver between the cap and body, and pop it until it starts to turn a brighter color (stress)

Work it like this all the way around, and keep pulling, and it should pop off with time and a little elbow grease.

Dip it in some almost boiling water. It will destroy the bond between the plastics and the glue. It'll pop off much easier.

It should not, boiling water is not agressive on plastic.
