That blaster is great but this guy doesn't think outside the box ,he's outside the zip code. I've been shot by it way more times than I wish to admit, can't wait to see the write ups for some of you're other stuff.

P.S. We only found one of your balls after you left Columbus.

That's pretty damn cool. You might also be able to make a hop-up by putting some sort of small, friction-y piece on the end. When the ball flies out, it catches momentarily on the piece and gets some backspin. That's how hop-ups work in that game with plastic pellets that Nerfers aren't allowed to acknowledge.

If you're going with the whole backspin idea, use some dimpled practice golf balls or fuzzy miniature tennis balls. The textures are designed to catch air and get gnarly spins.

Can't wait to get shot by that thing.

Have you considered putting a speed control or rheostat on a motor so you could put a little "english" on the ball?? I read that you melted resistors I was thinking more along the lines of the variable speed drill trigger.

I know, right? This puts my 9.6V version to shame, that is for sure. Abused, you certainly have some skills. I'm pretty impressed. I really like the elastic door cords, that is an awesome idea. One of min MP-150s is missing it's door too.

I'd forgotten about it, but I used the original two step drill trigger in my setup. The variable speed idea for spin control is excellent, though. I doubt one would need more than an Ohm or two for simple hop-up, but think of the possibilities... One could potentially turn the blaster sideways and crank up the spin control to curve around trees and such.

My thought as well. Either a trigger, or a potentiometer on the side. You could skip the series/parallel setup, and just dial it to the speed you want.

If you set it up with the potentiometer then theoretically you could change the degree of the curve or make it straight. If this degree was drastic enough to notice and you practiced with it you could be unstoppable from close range. There would be no such thing as cover.

Also, another thing... Did you paint your balls to look like Poke balls, because they look awesome.

I guess they do look like Poke-balls... I just had them half-black and half yellow (to see how they spin), but the black ink kept smearing off on things. Stupid markers. I washed my balls to get most of the ink off, decided a paint pen would work a lot better, and added the red stripes. With red stripes, the green ones look like little (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Raphael heads.

Do you really think you need all the power of both motors? One of the things I certainly would have tried is to put a big motor on just one, and use some kind of belt and pulley, or gear system to run the other. The pulley/gear sizes could be altered to change the relative wheel speeds.

That was my original plan, since I knew I could get gears at an acceptable price, and I figured I would end up paying a lot for a decent electric motor. But I was at a flea market, and this guy had about 50 cordless drills laying out, $5 each. So I thought, "What the hell? I'll add an extra pound of weight and make the whole thing completely ridiculous." I also wasn't sure if it was going to work very well or not, and decided to err on the side of having too much power rather than too little.

I had a couple potentiometers I was using for the variable transistors, though I suppose I could have used a drill trigger. Alas, I did not have one. And I certainly could have used parallel wiring with a set of potentiometers, but I was more keen on the idea of having a quick switch between high and low, and was willing to sacrifice fine motor speed control. Something I'll explore more with the second version (I can see it now: more power, more control, more balls.)

I'm pretty much stunned by the audacity and overkill of this ball blaster, TheAbused. It is truly inspirational to the indoor nerfing crowd as it demonstrates just how far away from the Crossbow you can go.
