I'M NOT DEAD!
Lol, I haven't done anything nerf related in about a year or so. The double barrel may throw me back in and I may invest in a hand cannon..
ANYWAYS!
Lol, you guys overclocking, mine runs at 3.7 quad core not overclocked. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL I've even got some special thermal paste that keeps it cool.

You guys play any Eternal Silence or Dystopia? Some of the half life mods are pretty boss

You probably also paid out the ass to have a good CPU. I just bought a good mobo, so overclocking is cooler.

Make sure to buy fast disk drives. I bought a slow one, and my PC reads data faster than it can read the disk...

Hello guys, I think I remember posting is a steam thread one or two years ago, I just got back into nerfing after I saw a whole bunch of new guns at Walmart. So anyways:
Steam ID: Jwrazmo
Games: Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, Counter Strike: Source, Garry's Mod, Plain Sight (Great indie game!), Half Life 2, Sam and Max: The Devil's Toy box, Synergy.

Note: This is not all of my games, this is the games I frequently play.

I don't bother overclocking. And yah half life mods are pretty fucking rad, I have Dystopia, Insurgency, Mestasis, and a bunch of other ones.
I just installed my Coolermaster 212 hyper into my smilodon, had to take the fan off the side panel which was pretty gay but hey my CPU dropped a good 15% so it's all good.

Arkham Asylum is being a bitch, it freezes and then gives me an error whenever I try to play it, so fuck games for windows live i'ma buy it for the ps3 probably.

If you have an actual copy of the game I'd love to see it!

That's a pretty weird error. I ran it a while back, and it was one of the few games that didn't give me computer problems. I mean, the torrent had a track from Warner Brothers on it, so it led to trouble with my ISP, but the game itself ran great.

Man, buying games legit sucks. DLC for Dragon Age is so spendy.

Guys, if you don't own a steam account, cut off your own hands, never mod again, and break your computer. Really, there is no excuse anymore. From now until the 4th of Jeely, over 200 games on steam are more than 60% off. Thats a gigantic savings, and with new steam for mac, there is honestly no "Well, I don't have a PC" excuse. If you like games, think about games, or have ever wanted to play a game at any point in your life, make a free steam account, and start playing games.

It may sound like advertising, but fuck that. I couldn't give a damn where you spend your money. But if you want to get into PC gaming, this is the place and time to do it.

I bought Guild Wars Trilogy, it's a pretty baller game. I like straight Guild Wars, but Factions is cool for assassins, still haven't tried out Nightfall.

I'm so glad the sale is now over, I was hemorrhaging money. :P Of my purchases, Red Faction: Gurrilla for $5 is my favorite. It's GTA, on MARS! And it's FUN! :D

I also grabbed Mount & Blade: Warband, I played the demo awhile ago and liked it, so it's kool to be able to have no limit on playing. :)

Yeah, on the 4th, I was like "Oh shit, sale ends today, and I've only spent $5." So I bought Red Faction: Guerrilla, and NecrovisioN which looked pretty cool. I spent about $12 total and I now have 3 new games, all of which retail for over $10 each, so Steam rocks.

I've recently been looking at laptops since my dad said I could get one around the end of summer. My top picks have been the Asus G72GX, Asus G73JH, MSI GE600, and Asus N61JQ. They all have their pros and cons but I really can't decide which one I really want. What I want is something of pretty high power(which is all of them...) and it will mostly serve as a DTR and something that will last me the longest and future proofness. I will probably also be taking it on planes during and to college which is in 4 years...
Asus G72GX
Asus G73JH
MSI GE600 (Has switchable graphics but it's not listed in the description.)
Asus N61JQ
Also, I have $150 in gift cards for BestBuy...

Honestly, go with the most expensive ASUS laptop. Its overkill now, but you could actually play games on it in the future. MSi makes good stuff too, but if you want something that will remain fairly powerful for a while, go with that. You really can't upgrade any of those laptops however, so don't think that you can just toss new parts in them when they get old. The motherboards on them are probably already maxed out for memory, and anything over 5 is really expensive for laptops.

Yeah, just put down the extra cash and get the nice ASUS with the i7.

My friend got the $700 Asus laptop, and he's playing on Steam with it just fine. He also plays COD4 for the PC alot, and the graphics were great. Specs were like 4 gigs of RAM, 500 gigabite hard drive. Shouldn't be hard to find on the website.

I'm actually kind of jealous, considering I have a MacBook to run games off of.

Yeah, there are some good older laptops out there, but COD4 isn't really the newest game to hit the shelves. My laptop, which is about 6 years old, can run it. I'd just pay the extra money up front and get an actual good computer, and then you will have less issues down the road. Don't get an HP though. Their support is pretty bad most days.

And sucks about the Mac Book. Not exactly the prized gaming machine.

Not really lol. My original price range was like...$500-$700...Guess I had to up it a bit to get the performance I want.

~Nrg

EDIT: hawk, my friend actually has a MBP 13 2009 and we were playing COD4 on default settings. He was barely managing 30fps... :D

Sony Vaio VGN-FW455d
Posted Image
Posted Image

Specs:
-17" 16:9
-4Gb ram
-Dual Core 2.1GHz
-ATI Radeon 4650
-Blu-ray drive

Worth it?

Yes, yes it is, the damn thing is a bit over priced but the damn thing isnt going to be outdated for a couple years

(FYI Sony VAIOs dont like being handled roughly, let alone violent rage quits relating to TF2)

Yes yes yes...We can all get that for $729 at TigerDirect. I'm not sure how much it's gonna be like that, but it seems like a good deal. A few questions K9, since you're in college, how hard is it to lug around? Does it fit into a standard 17" neoprene case and backpack?

EDIT: Here's a link.

I have a netbook and it can't even play Pychonauts well! :) My steam tag is the same as my username if you are dying to add me. But the only multiplayer game I usually play is Killing Floor.

EDIT: Here's a link.

The model you linked to is a couple steps down from mine, I have a full Gig for the GPU, mind you I bought mine last year so the price has droppped.

Weight to me is an issue, I personally bike/bus to class and it is a bitch. The days I don't have to bring it in, I'm so friggin glad, Cause the computer + gear (Gaming mouse, charger & random cables) weighs a good 10lbs; it doest seem like a lot, but it is.

And It does fit in a standard case and bag.

Pros:
-Nice keyboard (need to get used to it)
-GPU works for gaming
-Blu-ray (haven't realy used it, but it's cool for bragging)
-Good support from sony (they replaced the HDD twice already; my fault, not theirs)
-Fancy LEDs
-Solid build quality

Cons:
-Heavy
-GPU was opitmized for entertainment, not gaming
-Can run a little hot
-Stupid thing drains battery slowly when off (see notes below)
-Battery life is meh (Mine is fully upgraded, so it would have less battery life compared to a less powerful one)
-Sony VAIOs don't like to be handled roughly (it's a company thing)
-Bloatware is a bitch

**The computer uses some power to monitor the power button (5%/day). Can be stopped by taking the battery out just after turing it off

The VAIO you linked would work pretty well for gaming, as long as you go into the BIOS and devote some more RAM to the graphic chipset.

I've always like VAIOs. They look really sleek, and their build quality seems pretty good. K9, is the keyboard on that model backlit? If so, then thats probably the model I'll buy when I go off to college.

On the laptop subject, never buy HP.

The Fw line doesn't usualy have the backlit keys, but you really don't need it, especially if you need to game covertly in class.
