I made a little writeup here, though the theory for operation is... Unproven. I'll try and get a 3D model up, but for now, you'll have to bear with the crappy pictures, and form how the pieces are arranged in your head. Keep in mind the big black piece with the red ring is just the back plate of the valve, from the front, with the plunger piece inserted into it's middle tube.

For now, theories on how it works?

I think you are probably right, the air preessure drops pulling the main release open and shuting the trigger part as quickly as it opened, I dont have a secret shot 2 though so I am just going by your pictures.

The SS2 valve is definitely the best valve there is, it isn't extremely big but it lets out air a lot faster than the SM valves, at least I think. Zero do you think you can figure out why you have to pump it fast or otherwise it leaks?

Easy. It needs that pressure to create enough force on the plunger for it to make a seal with the hole at the front of the valve. May be caused by lack of proper lubrication. I've never experienced that problem, though, so I'm just assuming. But that's the most likely cause. The 3D model is on the way, as soon as Gmax stops crashing...

Sorry to double post, but hey. The whole shebang, 3D model and all, is updated at my new site address, http://www.foammodified.web1000.com/

The completed valve writeup is here. Web1000 is having some "issues," so please excuse slow loading times. Hope this helps my explanation.

Mmmm... same as the SF/BF tank design. Excellent deconstruction and analysis!
