Anyone ever tried using vinyl dye on foam/stefans? Obviously regular paints flake off rather easily from darts. . . just looking for a better option. Figured I'd ask first rather than waste cash to experiment on one dart if it doesnt work.

Anyone?

Not a good idea. The solvent in the dye might melt your Stefans, it'll increase their diameter, and make them sticky in the barrel. You're better off taking the money you'd spend on dye and just use it to buy more Stefan supplies!

I'd like to limit responses to people that have actually tried it. Of course over 100 views and 1 response, it doesnt look like many have . . .

I've done it. I use it to mark the back of my darts. Works awesome, and I haven't noticed the foam degrading at all.

I use white out to mark the end of my darts. Because the weight is in the front of the stefan, chances are it will land that way and the back will be sticking up. I put the back of the darts in little stubs of CPVC then I just paint the backs with White Out. It works really well. I use white because it's the color that makes it easiest to find my darts.

Ryan, does it flake off if the dart is compressed/stepped on? I'm thinking I'd like to spray the sides of the dart, which get alot more wear and tear.

Don't spray it on the sides. It will flake off, and make your dart/barrel fit crappy.

Spray paint will fade quickly from the backs of darts.

If you're more patient, you can paint the back of them with acrylic. My darts from wars in June are showing up and the paint is still on them.
Also, darts land weight down, usually in grass, so what's the point of painting anything besides the back of them?

Are you trying to put your name on them or color them entirely?

I am the reason why Waldo is hiding.

Is it weird in here, or is it just me?
