Okay, I've used the search function, I've PM'd a few people and maybe I'm just the only one who's completely oblivious, but I don't know how you guys make tightening rings. I've seen it done to brass and PETG. My main barrel materials are CPVC and PETG. CPVC is too tight for a lot of applications, PETG lets my darts slide around, and brass is too expensive. So I wanted to try tightening rings but I don't know how to do them.

Also, I've seen people nesting brass in PETG so it has the same effect as tightening rings. How does that work out for you guys?

Basically I'm looking for the best way to make PETG slightly tighter so it holds onto my darts rather than letting them slide out the barrel when I'm running.

Contrary to popular belief, tightening rings DO work in PETG. You just need to make your pipe cutters really small (so that they are almost flattening the PETG) and turn the PETG in them VERY slowly. The petg will wobble around, and they won't be pretty, but they do the job.

Use a rotary style pipe cutter like you normally would, cutting very slowly, stop just before you cut through. If done correctly, it will have a nice dart fit, leaving an indentation. I havent used PETG, but it works on brass,
although the effect is heavily nullified on CPVC.

So you're talking about one of the rotary styled pipe cutters with the wheels? Wouldn't that cut through it though?

You have to becareful with it. I find it best to use an old pipe cutter that has dulled down a bit through useage. A brand new pipe cutter will likely slice through it in seconds. I keep two handy, an old one for rings, the new one for cutting.

I had trouble at first with tightening rings, but they just take a lot of patience for it to come out well. If a little bit happens to slip through and break the wall of the PETG or brass, put a tiny bit of Plumber's Goop right on the spot, and wrap it in a small piece of e-tape for support after the goop dries. It's worked wonders for me.

Or just save yourself a shit load of trouble and spend money on some 17/32 brass for nesting.

That actually sounds like a good idea. You just need to find a washer with a ID close to your blade's.

Make rings around the inside of the petg with some superglue, works great.
