My friends and I were recently dumpster diving, and we managed to find possibly the sweetest thing ever. No, it wasn't a giant vat of peanutbutter, it's a giant child stroller. It may sound stupid, but this thing is damn fun. It has no front wheels, and is it pretty bad shape. I found it in a dumpster for crying out loud.

We're going to modify it into a minister of Death over the break, by adding a front wheel (It currently has NO front wheels...), place for a gunner, and a turret like thing. I've already began to strip away unnecessary pieces, and have successfully turned the sunshade into a "HUD" that flips down, and even turned a structural support into a roll cage. Anyway, this is going to be the shit. The driver will sit inside the stroller and steer the front wheel (The front half of a broken RAZOR scooter). The gunner/engine man will ride on a platform attached to the back, and can easily get off the push.

Basically, most of my supplies are coming out of a dumpster, and I have a solenoid sprinkler valve and regulator just laying around. Yeah, just laying around.

None of my friends nerf, but hey, I figured you guys would be interested in turning a child's stroller into a deathmongler.

No, not the end of the world. Just the end of thinking. If anyone ever tried to assault me with a child's stroller I'd first shoot him, and then while he was counting I'd walk up and do massive amounts of impact trauma to his groin. WTF are you thinking? No really I want to know. I saw this topic and thought "aw cool, they must've found nice Nerf gun or homemade part in the dumpster". No, you found a stroller, and now you want to ride around in it. And this "Mongloid bastard of fear" is going to inspire people to Nerf? Riiiight...... just like how the French Army inpired the people to resist German rule.. wait it didn't.

I'm not even going to discuss how massively hipocritical famine is for criticising my ideas as "Childish" when we all run around with plastic guns and shoot each other with foam. Nerf is a sport where abstract, outcasted ideas are accepted and tried. It might be a stroller, but I'm already further along in making a "nerf assault vehicle", the deam for many nerfers, than anyone has ever gotten.

Hundreds of people have come to our nerf sites and called us childish for our ideas when they've never tried them, and what do we do when we hear a childish idea? We make fun of it. How sad.

If you guys want to care about my project, that's great. If you don't care, that's fine too. But if you're going to set standards for what is childish and what isn't, fuck you. Fuck you.

That's odd..... I don't see the word childish anywhere in my post.... does anyone else? And at any time am I accussing you of being immature? No. What I am doing is openly mocking you for bragging about such a ridiculous idea. How, in any way shape or form, is having someone push you around in a stroller while you steer/try to shoot people giving you a tactical advantage in any Nerf situation?

First, you're going to move slower than someone who is running. Second, you're gong to be less manuverable and therefore more likely to be hit as opposed to being on foot. Third, the "engine man" is going to tire much faster than the other players and thus your efficency decreases. And finally, in how many instances are you going to find yourself in a situation where you have a long flat road suitable for such a "Nerf Vehicle"? I mean really? How is you sitting in a stroller steering around going to enhance gameplay? Do you expect your opponents to flee in terror when confronted with such unchallengable force as you in a stroller? Are you going to instigate some sort of "Stroller War" where now every team has to fish around in the reffuse of soccer moms so that they too might build a Fisher Price Juggernaut? Will this contraption turn the tide of a battle? I cannot concieve it being so in any circumstance.

Now I could see if you were to mount some sort of engine on this stroller, then the accomplishment might be marginally noteworthy, and exactly what kind of precious tactical data is displayed on this HUD/Sun Visor of yours!?!?! You said that none of your friend's Nerf, well if the luxury of being pushed around in a stroller is part of your sales pitch I can see how they might not buy. If nothing else then it's because Nerf is seen as such a childish sport that we must strive to make it as legitimate as possible, we must scrutinize every advancement we make and contemplate what effects, positive and negative, they will have on how the game is played and percieved.

And I cannot verbalize my anger and resentment at the fact that you would presume to lecture me on what the sport of Nerf represents and to what standards it should be held. WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF WHAT THIS SPORT HAS GONE THROUGH IN IT'S EVOLUTION? HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU TRIED TO REGATHER THE SHAMBLES OF A SHATTERED NERF LIST AND TRY TO HOLD IT ALL TOGETHER??! HOW MANY NERFERS HAVE YOU INTRODUCED TO THE SPORT AND TRAINED AND WATCHED AS THEY BECAME FORMIDABLE PLAYERS?!?! AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF WHAT MY DREAMS ARE FOR THIS GREAT GAME?? Closest indeed...... I'VE DIVED OUT OF A MOVING CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF A NERF GAME!!!! Have you integrated automobiles into Nerf yet? No, you're being pushed around in a STROLLER by your friend and such is your vision of the future of Nerf. I weep.

Out.

Well ok, obviously there is a little anger at play here, and I don't blame Dan if he doesn't take it in stride. However, I must say that Famine articulated, albeit much more harshly, what I was thinking while reading your post dude. I just don't see the time or place when it wouldn't be gay. That's not saying that such a time and or does not exist, only that I have not seen it. Oh, and for the record I have climbed over a moving van and into an open window while being really bored waiting for a nerf war....until Ash slammed his door on my fingers....oh, and I once attacked a van head on with a Arrowstorm <raises preverbial roof>.

In the end, I think the answer to all of this is lollpops. Until the pops are had....

What we have here is a creative idea and some honest responses to it. I don't see anything at all wrong with any of it except all the hostility it created. Famine could reserve the 'punch in the groin' treatment for the instigator of the tampon dart and Dan could take the negative comments in stride - though I probably would have escalated the verbal sparing at that point myself if I were him. We're only human after all.

I'm looking forward to finishing the topic rating system so that people will have other options for voicing their opinions of an idea. Being able to vote a thread to the top or bottom of the 'thought pool' and simultaneously toward or away from the spotlight may be a useful tool in situations where there is strong disagreement over the value of an idea.

But hey, who knows.

Dan, would you please take a picture of this thing and upload it. This may help us find out what we can, er, "do" to it. I would like to view the structure of it, so I can give some feedback. I think it's a somewhat good idea, but I really would like pics so I can tell you what to do.

Dude, I have a nerf mobile, too. It's a gold-plated pikachu Razor scooter with a Wildfire attached to the front! I use it to back up my Nerf paratroopers!

The anger in this thread brings me waves of nostalgia. Oh, NO, maybe you will be reborn here!

Actually, the idea seems to be pretty good, assuming that one could reload and move with it quickly enough it could be feasible.

I do see a major flaw in here. Getting out and pushing won't be an efficient source of travel at all. You would need some sort of internal power source, like pedaling. Replacing the wheels with bike tires would allow you to go more places and travel at higher speeds. Again, I demand a pic. I did design something, and it probably won't work, but you can only see the plans over AIM. Heh, I'll say this, one plan involves a rotating turret with a razorbeast....

Even with a pedaling system, this monstrosity would be horribly inefficient. It would be less maneuverable and slower than a person on foot; not to mention the sheer vulnerability it poses to the rider(s). Instead of having a clear mind and concentrating only on decimating one's opponent, one would be caught up in trying to push/pedal/steer and shoot at once, horribly hindering awareness. Now, we Horsemen are no strangers to the idea of vehicular movement in Nerf. We have experimented with firing from bicycles and, as Famine mentioned earlier, we have experimented with using mini-vans for drive-by shootings and whatnot. However, we ultimately decided that, though it could be tremendously fun, vehicles are simply not practical for usage in Nerf. The increase in landspeed is not an equitable trade for the loss of concentration that vehicles require.

But the design is for 2 men. My design does include a windshield so the driver/pedaler won't get foam in the face. The nerfing is done solely by the dude in the rear. However, my other design invovles the front dude steering and firing homeades with solenoids built onto the steering column so he won't have to move his hand. The only thing is, I don't know what a solenoid looks like. If it is an electronic switch, it should work.

This still does not override the fact that it is simply not pragmatic. Why hinder my maneuverability by riding in a cart? Landspeed will barely increase, if not decrease, as a result of the vehicle. Though the walls of the vehicle may provide some protection, the inability to dodge quickly out of the way of an approaching dart is unacceptable. Aiming, too, would be hindered, as now you would only be able to fire from behind the "windshield." There are simply no significant benefits to such a device. It makes no sense to introduce a gameplay element which does not help the gameplay.

Well, I've been busy as hell this break, and never got a chance to work on it. All I do know is one of my friends owns a cheap Saab, and bought another cheap saab for parts. After he scavanges a new dash and door, god knows what we could do to that baby.

PS, while in florida, my friends and I also managed to secure 576 bottle rockets for about $10. Not a bad buy, considering my state has strict bans on fireworks.

576 bottle rockets

Four dozen dozen? What kinda communist plot is responsible for selling stuff in such freakish quantities? Why don't they just ask if you want to settle for 2^8 or go for the real value when you get the 2^9 package?

Yo. I got an idear... atactch a motor to a petal car and add a homemade gun on the side that turns for only 1 person to sit in! I'm mean fitting 2 pepole in a stroller, I think, is pretty hard to do. Even if it IS supersized! I mean hey i've never seen a stroller that big. <_<
