If any of you, veteran or beginners, are planning on getting a Dremel rotary tool within the next month or so, hold off. The Dremel 4000 ships this month, and it works with basically every size attachment, has an amazing new RPM, and a ton of other nice features.

Keep an eye out, I'll certainly be picking myself up one of these BAMF.

It’s also the only Dremel tool that is compatible with all Dremel accessories and attachments.

There really isn't a good reason to put down 80 to 100 dollars on the newest 400 series dremel if you have an older model of the 300 or 400 series. Maybe more aesthetically pleasing, but not much else has changed.

Aren't they always???

I agree with Tantumbull, why would you buy the latest, when you only need it for grinding or cutting some plastic or an occasional brass barrel.

So is the old 400 series, and the 300 series just can't use some of the saw attachments.

They're making several new attachments this year only compatible with the 4000, plus it's got a good batch of new performance features. If you don't want to buy it, don't.

Dremel 4000 Drops This Month

Try not to drop it.
Anyway, I saw it at Lowes the other day. It looked ok. I'm still not putting down $100 plus tax for a dremel if I'm only cutting plastic.

And, I'm sorry to necro this (It was on the first page), but who says all I'm cutting is plastic?

I'm taking on a major fiberglass project, a few wood projects, and some other stuff, all of which will require a dremel for precision work.

The 4000, having seen it in person, is a bit more impressive than the talk. It's definitely better than the 400XP I already own in a few ways, especially since I can hold it more precisely.

But, uh, yeah. Dremel 4000 looks to be a very good investment. I mean, unless you already own one, and/or are only using it for Nerf.
