Ok, it says “cosmetic” but it also is more stable in the LS, and recon (WARNING: This mod will make the drum clip useless in a Recon), due to the weight being more centered.

First a picture of the finished drum, unpainted:

The drum taken apart (Sorry that the orange clip piece is already cut-up):

The tools and materials youl’l need (the white on the bottom is some plastic sheet):

Posted Image

First take apart the whole drum, I took of the clear cover, I don’t know if the grey cover is better or worse to take off, the orange piece that goes in the gun is not glued or screwed down so you can take the dart wheel and that part out, BEWARE, the rotation mech is attached to the little black piece on the orange part, and tot the black dart pusher rod on the dart wheel, to take of the orange piece you have to grab the steel strip near the dartpusher rod, push it back and back out, here are some pictures to help you out:

Then cut the orange piece on the blue line shown here:

Youl'l end up with:

Posted Image

Youl’l need to cut away some material on the side where the darts come from to make enough room for the darts, you can see it on this picture:

Posted Image

Make sure that you test “fit” the orange piece before glueing anything!
Clean your cuts so the dart wont be shredded or worse, get caught and jam the drum, also make sure the black dart pusher fits all the time, and all the way to the top

Here’s a way to make the orange piece straight with the center of the drum:

Posted Image

Posted Image

I glued a small piece of plastic with a very little drop of superglue, on top of that a longer piece with a straight edge, in line with the seam on the orange piece, then using that piece as a guidance to glue the orange pieces togetherstraight with the axlehole of the dart wheel on the grey piece.
Strenghten the seams with small pieces of plastic:

Posted Image

Then use a long narrow piece of plastic (I actually used the piece that I used for making the orange piece straight) to fill the hole you made for the darts to move freely into the orange piece and out to the end.

For strenght fill the seam around with some hotglue and your finished!!

Further information: the orange clip part is not glued together like the 6 dart clip, so it feels a bit flimsy.

Up next I will post some gun pictures.........

Drum clip in the Recon:

Damn as you can see in the pictures, the clip currently doesn't fit on the Recon, but some slight modification on the Recon in the future will solve that...

This was my write-up, I hope I helped you guys, at least with some pictures of the spring mech of the clip.

Comments, flames, compliments?

Interesting idea. It seems like it might not be worth the work for some, but I could see why someone would want to do this. I really like how that mag is looking on the longshot. Nice job.

I am thinking that using the Recon or Long Shot Clip (or at least the half that fits into the magazine well) might work as well.

otherwise nice work.

Any one have any idea if the Raider drum clip would fit in the Vulcan?

I hope you are asking if you could use a hollowed out Raider drum and not actually asking if you could use it normally. Vulcans can not take LS/Recon magazines, what do you think?

Anyways, good job with this cosmetic mod, I am glad to see that it is indeed possible. I was worried that it wasn't at all. :)

Wait, I take that back, no one can add plastic in it to make longer trays due to the fact that the black dart pusher takes the up the space inbetween the 2 seperate trays, maybe there is still a way lawl

Your post made Grammar Kitty cry. :)

There are plenty of people here who posted saying they are trying to stefan-ize the Raider drum, but I've not seen any successes, so I'm guessing it's not as trivial as one would think.

Besides, with the value pack costing the same as the standard pack, and the 50-free-darts offer from Hasbro, you can get more stock foam than your parents can stand to look at with your Raider. Why not go that route? (Then you can post and tell us if/when you managed to successfully convert your drum to work with stefans.)

If anyone has any measurements of the spacer needed to make the raider stefan clip(id of the center of the drum, the od of the drum and the number of spots for darts/ diameter of those half circles ) I could draw something up on cad real quick, so they have a good template.

Ok, first off, thank you guys for the good feedback!!

Now for some question answering and teaching dumbasses:

It looks like you may have lost one or two darts in total capacity, due to the shorter straight section - can you confirm?

Nice idea. I had thought it would be impractical, and I'm glad to be proven wrong.

A slight variation in your idea might fix the Recon issue and regain lost capacity: For the wedge that you cut out of the orange piece, it might be possible to cut a smaller wedge, with only half the angle, and then insert that back into the joint going the other way. This would make for a much more complicated glue-up, but you've shown the way.

Posted Image
If it can be re-inserted the other way, a wedge of half the angle will give the same resulting angle change.

Thank you for the feedback, well its to late for my Drum clip, but nice thinking.
BTW indeed i sacrificed 1 dart of the capacity, but hey, it looks the shizzle not?

Offcourse it won't fit the vulcan are you stupid???!!!

My guess is that the drum is very very hard to modify for short stefans, or you have to re fabricate the ENTIRE dartwheel, wich is really difficult because of the wheel not being symetrical and other difficult to make portions,
or you will need to find a way to make the wheel rotate without using the original rotating mech....

My guess is the last way is the more easy way, but still very hard.......

Also the orange piece has some "prongs" that "pick up" the darts as the move out of the clip, so youl'l need to line those "half circles" perfectly or they will screw up the rotation or your darts....

Just to let you know.....

I never used the Vulcan, So I honestly did not know. I heard the mag from the LS and Recon fit the Vulcan so I felt it was worth my time to ask before I tried to chop apart blasters.

No I am not stupid, but I haven't personally fired off every blaster nerf made ether. Look, I did not know if removable parts are interchangeable in every n-strike nerf blaster or not. The stupid thing to do is to buy the Raider and Vulcan and try it out before asking. Jack Ass.
Do not go and assume that someone stupid because they asked a question you assume is common knowledge.

Anyone who has ever seen a Vulcan or even a picture of one would know it takes chains, not clips. Why would you be planning on chopping one up to put one of the drums in if you don't even know the basic concept of the Vulcan? You'll lose money fast if you go by that policy.

Anyway, nice work. I personally like it more on the Raider now but not quite as much on the LS.
BUT.
Original and clean all the same. Nice.

It would actually be easier to mod the Recon to use this clip than mod the actual clip. The angled piece shown comes off with a few clips from some wire cutters, and you can even smooth it out with a knife. I did this to my Recon so i can use a back-to-back (actually more like side-by-side) clip on it.
