I know I need to use acetone/nail polish remover, which I have. Now how do I get it off my gun? I'm trying to remove the orange off my Clear Maverick.

But what's the process of removing it? Do I put it on a pad and rub it on the paint?

Put it on a rag or pad, rub it own in heavy globs, leave it sit for like 10 or 15 minutes, then forcefully (and hopefully) rub off the paint.

edit: the green, rough part of a sponge might be a good thing to use

Get a can of lacquer thinner and some heavy duty paper towels. be quick about it though cuz it might eat your plastic a bit.

I've not tried this with nerf guns, but when you have paint on model cars that needs to be removed,we use a product called "Westley's bleach white" its used for white wall tires . Just pour it in a pan and soak for 24 hours and wipe off. Model cars are more fragile than nerf guns so it shouldn't hurt it, if you're not sure about plastic compatability I'm sure you have some scrap that you have cut off a blaster, drop it in, let it soak, if it doesn't melt into slag, you're good to go.

There's an old trick from miniature painting you can try. As others have mentioned, many paint strippers and thinners will eat plastic as well, however brake fluid will lift off the paint without any damage to the blaster itself. You could pick that up from any automotive supply store and soak the gun over night. You may need to sand some of the residue off for afterwords, but most of the paint itself should be gone.

I tried this myself or some NF parts I had put too thick a coat of Valspar spray paint on and it worked pretty good.
