Everyone knows that air restrictors are bad...But a lot of people think that they decrease the volume of air. I dont mean 2k air restrictors...more like...TTG air restrictors. A simple one with no springs. Correct me if Im wrong, but how can it restrict air? the air would pass right through it. It wouldnt just phase out like on a 2k air restrictor, just make the air reach the dart more spread out and slowly. Its obvious that you want to take them out...but I could use a scientific explanation why everyone says they "restrict" When most only "decrease airflow", not "decrease amount of air"...
THIRST
For some reason, that just popped into my head...
Air Restrictors...restricting?
Air doesnt just..."Phase out"

Haha nice thought, what should we call it then instead of air "restrictors"? Decreased airflow poles? Just playin, hehe.

Well in some guns they do restrict the air flow. Most they don't. That was just the term always used for them. Maybe when they came up with the name it did restrict the air flow.
Me fail english that's unposible.

I think that they are in the whole general area of various holes everywhere, which in general restrict airflow.

I think you bring up a very vaild point here. Air "Restrictors" dont necessarly restrict air they just decrease the airflow. Which when you think about it is the same thing. Restrict. . .Decrease. They both have the same main concept, prevent some amount of air from reaching the dart. Now whether this can be measured by the human eye is another question. They could be gathered (if you had A lot of extra time), but I dont think that we could really say, "Wow ever since I removed those air restrictors my gun has been working so much better.

I'm not sure whether the start of the whole trend was a range increase or an ability to use homemade darts, but... Well, I have few guns with their original barrels, and what little stubs remain work best without that air restrictor.
I think we should get another term to refer to the constrictors within barrels, but for now restrictor is valid:
restrict
to limit the movements or actions of someone, or to limit something and reduce its size or prevent it from increasing.
That is what that little wad of plastic in the back of the barrel does to effusion rates.
