So there has been a lot of talk about the Jobar and the Cobra around the community lately.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out this thread Bob posted.

I picked up a Cobra at Lowe's a week ago and decided to see if I could make them the ultimate defend the core weapon. I think I've achieved that task. Here's what I did to it.

The first thing I wanted to try was creating the ultimate ball gun.

Posted Image

Nothing special here, I just added a 1.5" PVC coupler and put on a 5" segment of PVC. I'm using the practice gold balls you can find at Target. Thanks to Draconis for helping me with this.

Results are mediocre in my opinion. It shoots a single ball around 45-50'. But this is where it gets fun. When I went to Armageddon this year, Bags was using a signal launcher for a ball gun. He would load one ball, then a bunch of 1/2" stefans, and then another ball on top. Look at this video. (I put five darts in there)

As you can see, there is at least a ten foot spread that shoots all the projectiles at 40-50'. I'd like to try a longer barrel and see if I can jam more darts and balls.

But that's not all. I wanted to experiment with 1" foam backer rod like Forsaken did with his Mongo Titan.

I am shooting these. They are two and a half inches long with three 1/4" slingshot weights. I tried four, but it was way too heavy. Another thing that is noteworthy, is that these darts are incredibly durable. You can see these darts are quite smashed up from slamming against the wooden fence.

Posted Image

Compared to a 1/2" stefan.

Posted Image

These darts fly 80-90' with 20 pumps. With 10 pumps, they shoot about half as far. Here's the video.

Since the balls seemed to shoot just as far if I loaded more than one, I tried the same thing. I was quite surprised.

Shooting two 1" darts and three 1/2" darts
Shooting three 1" darts

If you notice in the last video, the three darts hit the fence at the exact same time. The range with the three darts only dropped 10' in range with a nice little 5' spread. The 1" darts plus the 1/2" darts had a 10' spread at about 70'.

When you add more darts, the range only drops a couple feet for each one you load. Anything more than five of them, the blaster won't shoot all the darts.

I plan on experimenting more with the 1" darts like changing barrel length, weight, and other shit. But thus far, I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

Now I command all of you go out and get one. I am having so much fun with this.

Enjoy.

Time to post up its little brother!

I must admit, "little" is relative in this situation, as this gun has a 400 mL airtank. The Cobra has 750 mL. The Titan is probably less than the Jobar.

Since I was in desperate need of a backup blaster, I just gooped on a half-inch coupler:

All you have to do is hacksaw off a quarter inch of the nub at the front of the barrel, pull out a crossbar, and goop a coupler on, and this monster will be firing darts like no other.

To make it war legal, I was forced to do this:

I have a two-foot clip for that BRISC setup. And when it's empty at twelve or so pumps this thing is easily passing eighty feet. I was forced to use a CPVC barrel, even though my darts are tight in PETG, because otherwise this thing would shotgun fire a third of the clip. Not that I'm complaining, though; I can fill that SCH40 clip and fire a cloud of darts past forty without too much of a problem.

I'm picking up a Cobra in Chicago, as the Jobar is going to stay in LA as a backup blaster; with proper but simple modification one can easily turn these things into poor men's Lightnin' Blitzes.

Its even more satisfying when you nail someone with a Mongo dart.

You can fire all kinds of alternate ammo with a 1" barrel.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Looking at one, it conjures images of my deceased Secret Shot 2. Shit, these have to be legal at another NIB war.

You could probably use the OPRV on the back to fill a SMDTG-Hornet/Big Salvo and fucking diddle shit. THen, you have the valve close with another ball valve (between the tubing and the SMDTG tank) and pump that shit up like it was plugged. These are ten times better then the Mav-Titans, and with an AT2k turret, the next Lightnin' Blitz.

Doing this as I speak. I have no idea when I got it...my DAD got it some 15 years ago, but that doesn't matter. Anyways, it keeps jerking around all over the place. I try to hold it with a rag...It doesn't look like...much.

A lb shoots all 5 shots at once... Like a hornet blast button or a blastfires blast button. It would just be a more powerful 2k with a 2k turret.

Sorry. I was thinking about the shape in general, not the quintuple barrel turret. AT2ks are easier to come by nowadays.

Ryan- Could you weigh the balls for extra oomph? Maybe cut one ball open (like a slit) and spread it so you could get some weights in there?

I doubt it, although I may be wrong. It seems like it would be too hard to get the weights centered perfectly so the ball would fly further.

One thing nice about the Target practice golf balls, is that they weigh quite a bit more than regular Nerf brand balls.

I haven't found anything else that would be a good substitute for balls. They're more just for the fun factor rather than performance. Scoring ball kills in a war is quite humorous.

Woah, Ryan, thank you ALOT for making this thread. I just built one of these, like, 15 minutes after I saw this (though, mine accepts stefans, too, not just target balls). Do we post pictures here of ours, too (or is this just for you and I9)?

Thanks
Finn

I believe post #24 in the Homemade Pictures thread is one of these Cobras and Jobars. Here is the link. It's a different color though.
