Earlier today I was cutting out the ar's in the barrels of my Nerf Maverick rev-6. I had cut out the middle of the orange circular piece. So after I had done that it was just a hollow circle. Then I put the barrel back together to test frie it. Once I shot it, the darts didn't even shoot! If you know what the problem is PLEASE TELL ME!

Without pictures, I can't be certain... But I think you drilled your hole too big in diameter in that little plate. I can't really describe it very well, but there is a little "ledge" or change in elevation on the little plate. You can't go beyond that when you're drilling your hole or the air seal will suck. That little ledge forms with the back of the barrel (or front part of the cylinder), so if there is a leak there that will cause what you see (dart not escaping barrel).

I don't know if that's your problem, but I recall having that be the source of a problem I had about a year ago (with the same "not firing" symptoms).

I know I can't describe this very well with words, but I don't have any pictures of that part in my photobucket.

I just opened up my barrel and I filed down the ledge that you were talking about. Then I shot it, and it still didn't shoot. Thanks for the reply but I think that I'm screwed with it... I did do a maverick clip mod though, so I still have another one that works.

Did you put the AR bases abck in? You should take out the little springs and the three-pronged piece and discard them, but cut the peg out of the other piece and put those bases back in where they belong.

Without them the Mav won't fire.

Oh no what the hell!? I said you can't cut into those little ledges, sanding them will make a new problem (assuming my problem wasn't the same)! Now you're really fucked...

Glint, I think he was referring to those bases or plates or whatever.

You should charge your battery for your camera.

You might want to check that your plunger tube is correctly in place. I've know a few people (myself included) to mess that up, causing the gun to either not fire or fire very, very poorly.

You want to make sure that the hole at the front of your plunger tube is almost touching the back of your barrels, like this:


And not like this:


Sorry for the lack of an actual barrel in the pics, but you should get the idea.

Anywho, the only solution to this new problem of yours is to replace the barrels. I'm sure that if you search around here you can find a nice barrel replacement write-up. Try the directory.

On a subtle note, though, try not to double post if you can avoid it. It's pretty annoying to the Administrators here and can really give them the wrong impression of you.

It pays to cover all the bases, since problems don't always come from where you expect them. Sorry if it didn't help, though.

Something that I've done with turreted barrels such as the Mav, Firefly, and DTB is to take the back plate of the turret and on each of the barrel nubs add some rubber cement, then put the rings that you've unfortunately filed down on top of those nubs where they belong and put some rubber cement on top of the rings, now put your turret back together and do it quickly and tightly.

If you can do this without having to take the pieces apart once they've touched each other with rubber cement on them, and if you put it together tightly enough, you may be alright. To know for sure if this is your problem, put your mouth over the larger hole and blow down the barrel as you cover the smaller hole with your finger, if you hear air escaping then you're screwed, if not and it pressurizes, then it's sealed.

The rubber cement makes a sort of gasket that is cheap, thin, and easily removable if you have to go back and fix something.
