Okey I know you guys don't like the tactical light, but hey, a Human vs. Zombie at night?
Then it would be usefull..... but the original light is sucking badly, and it being red it won't illuminate much.

There's where my mod comes in:


The finished light on my Vulcan front-end

Materials:

-The tactical light that comes with the Recon-CS6 (doh)

-Any small tubular (led) torch (That fits inside the light housing offcourse!)

Tools:

-Dremel
-Glue
-E-tape

First off open the tactical light, end remove all the light crap thats inside, the stuff inside mine wasn't even screwed in, the holes were there,but the screws weren't there!

Don't throw away the internals yet!!

Remove the orange lens bit to, if you put a led-torch behind it, it lights up like a pumpkin at Halloween.

Then dremel the insides out, until your light fits, if you dremeled to much, use E-tape to stabilize it inside.
(No pictures because not al the led-torches are the same in diameter and length, use your imagination)

This until here has been done before, but it would require you to dril holes in the tactical light shell tot turn on the light, not on my mod:



I used the original switch, how? I will tell you:

De-solder or cut of the wiring from the original switch and battery holder, we will only use the black and the red one:



You need a little bit of electrical knowlege to wire it, but the black wire is connected to the battery (pack) and the switch, the red one is conected to the led-torch housing, through a hole (wich was used for a wrist strap), and the switch. The original switch of the led-torch is punched out.

Now assemble the led-torch n the housing, and re-place the switch and switch knob:



Also you can see the dremeled out, shell above, the connection of the red wire to the led-torch housing, and the cut off battery holder end bit, witch contains the metal nut to remove the original battery cover.

The white plastic piece and the piece of the battery holder are required to hold the switch and the switch knob in place, Notice the litle notches, they hold the piece in place inside the shell.

Closed shell, be sure to remove any ridges and obstructions from the battery cover.

Offcourse, you're smart enough to paint the shell before installing internals, I think I will keep it like it is.

I think it's great I really like how clean it is. I was wondering however, for the wiring what did you do with the red wire is that just soldered to the metal of the flashlight to ground it?

Indeed, nearly (if not) all the alluminium machined torches use the body as the - lead.

Thanks, I will definitely be trying this mod soon just need to find a flashlight that fits well enough.

Another great mod! Although this has been done before (light replacement), it can now be attempted by less fortunate members that don't own soldering equipment.

Where did you learn your English? I'm starting to get scared that you speak it so well while our domestic (i.e. USA and Canada) members don't speak it so well. Our education in the states must be losing its grip.

Where did you learn your English? I'm starting to get scared that you speak it so well while our domestic (i.e. USA and Canada) members don't speak it so well. Our education in the states must be losing its grip.

Must be losing? It's completely gone, I'm afraid. Take it from the high school student.


Moving on-topic, this isn't very original; I've seen several light replacements. However, it's easily the cleanest and easiest light replacement I've seen. No duck tape, no soldering, no wires or switches sticking out.

I'd say while the idea is old, the implementation is deserving of its own thread. Pretty good... PJ?

I always got high grades in english, needed to learn to capitalize though........

What do you mean about, not soldering? this mod does need soldering.........

Did you guys miss a piece of the write-up? it actually needs soldering!

About the PJ I'm thinking about it, but I first need to finish the PJ on my recon before I know what to do with the light

The iron part the bottom of battery holder in the led-torch was "melted" onto the plastic through a hole, I detached the iron part, bent the hole upwards, glueed the iron piece back in place en soldered the wire in the hole, its quite difficult to explain, if you would like, i could post up a graphic and some pictures to explain it better

Why not just tape a flashlight to the side of the recon, no need to be a jerk but it sounds a lot easier.

By doing this it makes it removable, While also adaptable to many other guns that have rails. Another thing to consider is neatness/Paint Job.

I KNOW there are many others that slapped in a torch in the original shell, or mounted torches onto the other tactical sighting thingy you get with the recon, but that involved extensive external modification of the shell.

With my mod there is NO external modification needed, you can sand and clean the shell, and give it a nice PJ, without seeing any hackups, glue or glory holes were you have to put your finger in to turn the light on.....

Also, I know I could saw off the back end of the shell and keep the original on/off switch of the torch, but that would not let me express my technical skills would it?

I think this not only looks better than taping a flashlight on to the side of the gun, but is more geared towards what we love to do: mod NERF guns. Pjotrkuh went further and decided to mod the accessories of our beloved pieces of plastic with skill and for practicality. I, for one, play zombies in a building with all of the lights off with the humans only using flashlights to see. In this situation, this light would be perfect as it would fit on nearly any gun I choose to use for that particular round.
