well this is my first real post so i desided to finaly publish something i have known for about a year.

if you can get ahold of better matirials then i sugest you dont do this .

hear it is. if you live in canada chance is that you have been to a petro canada and bought a slushie befour.
if you save the straw from the slushie, it can be used as a barrel for most nerf guns.

for example you can use it to make a big bad bow barrel. there are 2 ways of doing this i recomend the 2nd one.

remember: this is only an example . this matirial has menny outher applicastions in menny outher guns.

1. if you have two straws you can cut the first one in half and then cut one of these half in half.
the next step is to cut the 3 peises from straw number one down the midle so you can open them.
then use your glue of choice to stick the longest peice onto your second full straw. repete this with the 2nd longest and shortest peices.

finaly you have the barrel. now all that is needed to be done is to sand the inside of the big bad bows barrel to fit. cover the top with hot glue and electrical tape and its finshed.

way 2. simply take a straw and wrap about the length of the stock big bad bow barrel in electrical tape untill you get a tight fit.

and there you have it . a new barrel matirial to use.
( i also demonstrated this with my bbbb at massacre 4. i had made a speed loader for it. i traded it way for a vulcan.)

questions? leave me a reply. also tell me if you come up with any uses for this.

the size on the inside might be diferint at diferint stored because the started making thiner straws that you realy have to twist to get the dart in

I have known about that for a while. I think it is kind of impractical.

How tight is the fit of these? What other barrel materials is it similar to? (petg, cvpc, sch.80)? Are they durable? I would think they would bend and make your shot less accurate.

I stopped reading at "Matirial."

However, while with accurate measurements it could be a substitute for brass, plastic straws tend to bend and break a lot.

I saw you using these at massacre the seemed fragile(there were cracks in it and chunks out of the speed loader) and the fit looked closer to that of 1/2-17/32 brass.

As above saw this used at Massacre 4.
While seeming fragile and non permanent, the barrels worked surprisingly well.

From what i saw doesn't seem like a first choice by ANY measure, but might be a nice thign for people to have on them as a backup during wars.

mine fit pretty tight because i use hot glue and sand evrething down to make it fit.

unfortinatly i am one of the people that cant get outher matirals at this time so i am unsure what its simaler to.

also they are stable unless u drop it barrel down and the wait of your gun cracks it

well the company that makes them made them a little tighter so it compresses the dart a little more.

also here were no craks in mine at massacre .

I'm going to be stopping at petro Canada on the way home from my bronze medalion so I will take a couple straws and tell you guys the fit. I think these will work well for guns that you just want to quickly mod and don't want to waste brass on.

As for you Mitch, you said you can't get your hands on other barrel materials. I suggest buying some petg from OMC. It is very cheap and a very good barrel material.

I would think a straw would not hold up to repeated firing from a gun.
Also work on your spelling and grammer.

Mitch, you're blatant disregard for the rules will not be tolerated. I'll leave the thread open so you guys can talk about this if you want, but for now, he's gone for a while.

I've been looking for some straws like that. Instead of using them as a full out barrel, I had thought of using them as inserts in stock barrels since stock barrels are only tight at the very base.

I've been finding straws used in boba drinks, but they all seem to be 3/8" and don't even fit a slim home depot foam. I've seen some sites online that sell boba stuff are advertising 1/2" straws, but I'd be timid to buy them since I doubt they'd give exact dimensions on something as silly as drinking straws.

I got a couple and like king stated they are 3/8 and are too small to fit any of my foam. I'm not sure what type of darts your using or if your petro canada sells different straws Mitch.

If you can find these, I'd say go for it. Seems perfect for quick-n-dirty beginner barrel replacement, especially for BBB's and spring pistols. No need for a pipe cutter and probably slim enough to jimmy in without busting out the Dremel. Just make sure to reinforce it, or you'll lose your barrel.

And might I add, how thirsty must Canadians be to need half-inch straws?

Hey quiet you, we aren't that thirsty. Actually they are straws for slushies if you read the thread and they don't melt up here in Canada like they do down in the states.

I read somewhere that Panera bread also has suitably large straws for barrel material. But I could be mistaken.
