I apologise in advance if this has been asked before. I tried to a search for it but it's pretty specific and I had no luck in finding it.

I assembled a vulcan, handle, slide, batteries and all to make sure it was in perfect working order. That may not have been the best decision in retrospect as I now want to open it to remove the AR. I laboriously removed all the screws, the barrel and the battery pack but I cannot for the life of me remove the loading slide.

It clicked together when I assembled it and brute force won't work. Blame my poor upper body strength perhaps but I can't pry it open. If I used a tool such as a screwdriver, I'm afraid that pressure on the gun's outer shell would simply crack it.

There are others with this problem, of that I'm positive. Are there any suggestions on how to remove the slide for an unenlightened soul such as myself? I'm relatively new to all this and some advice from some veterans would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking I might have to resort to using a vise or a dremel but that seems drastic and I would rather not damage the slide handle. Here's hoping I'm just missing something really obvious that will just make me /facepalm when you mention it.

I had this exact problem when taking apart my Vulcan. I finally found insight by looking into the Longshot, which has the same bar mechanism. The way that worked for me was a crowbar. Slip it under the plastic part of the bar and place a towel or something similar between the crowbar and the Vulcan's shell, so you dont scratch it up. Pressure did not seem to be a problem; I torqued it pretty good and the shell wasnt damaged at all.

There might be better ways, but I tried several and this was the only one that worked for me.

Same basic idea of getting a maverick turret apart. As Winterstrike said, a crowbar works great, but you can also try the back of a hammer.

I always pry 'em off with a flat-head screwdriver. As long as you're careful the shell shouldn't crack or anything.

A crowbar or claw hammer are probably much better ideas, though.

Probably dead by now, or something.

On my Vulcan I could remove the bar with my hands pretty easily.

The yellow balls are also slightly smaller in diameter than the green ones.

Yep, crowbar/hammer works fine, and after the first time removing it, you won't have to use those tools again, because it damages the insides of the handles and you can take them apart easily, (in my case that is).

I use two flat head screw drivers, wedge them under the same orange piece and push and wiggle - they'll eventually come off.
