Nice job, Dizzy. It looks exactly like a BBB knockoff.

I trust that after an RSCB is added you will post the results, and enjoy the final product for its supreme war versatility.

I also noticed that I have just validated your signature, on the board itself, and not just in the IRC room.

You always post some of the more interesting write-ups.. Nice job! Although I do hate the shell on this gun. I'd probably cut off all unnecessary parts right away.

Amazing job! I can't wait to see what you do with the paintjob. I think that stock, the scorpion bow looks cooler then the bbb.

Also, the way you draw pictures and write the steps on your white board, makes reading the write-up much more enjoyable and interesting.

Nice job dizzy!

Your writeups are so easy to follow that anyone can replicate them.

What size RSCB do you plan on using?

Not sure yet. First I have to get a replacement spring and find a more consistent supply of foam than what I've been using before I worry about the RSCB clip.

Very very nice. I personally use a Scorpian bow as my primary, using a modified version of your "Howler" mod.
Although, there was a problem.

See that ridge that's circled? It goes in the gap in the plunger rod, right? Well, it, along with the one on the other side of the shell, broke off. I recommend rienforcing it. I used a nut and bolt as a replacement, but I had to dremel the shell a lot. Just a warning.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I believe that's a screw housing, actually. When the blaser fires, the plunger rod strikes that screw post. One way to relieve some of the impact would be adding a small piece of craft foam, and then using a strong screw in that post.

Yeah, you're right. I forgot to put the screw back in, so that's probably why mine broke. It won't break now.
I'm also adding half a +bow spring and reinforcing the plunger rod. It's gonna rule.
Do you think the catch should be reinforced?

I found the catch was pretty sturdy, actually, but it wouldn't hurt. Since everything in the AZSB catch mech fits so tightly together, I wouldn't know where to suggest putting extra brass or epoxy putty.

I'm gonna get one or two of these as war-starter guns now. Wonderful work, Dizzy. And for the record, I like your modding--painting, no matter how awesome, is very secondary to being able to do good, simple modding and clear, engaging writeups, in my book. That being said, I look forward to seeing the paint ;)

I did something similar to my bbb, except I cut the CPVC coupler in half and glued it inside the PVC coupler. Then, I glued that to the front.

I maintain that the BBB still reigns supreme! Although, your attempt to overthrow it is uncannily familiar...

How did you screw in the screw for your plunger head, or is it not removable? Also, I'd like to actually see some estimated ranges for the RSCB, because I could never get any luck with an RSCB on my BBB. The first shot fired great, but on even a 4 shot clip, my NF went farther and faster than the last shot.

I did it here: http://nerfhaven.com...showtopic=16687

Edit:

Also, awesome stuff, as always, but you don't need me to tell you that.

I had read your 3B overhaul, but I didn't make a conscious attempt to copy it. Truth be told, I had wanted to replace the plunger head on The Howler but I couldn't find washers to fit the correct dimensions until recently.

How did you screw in the screw for your plunger head, or is it not removable?

I poked a hole in the top of the plunger shaft with a nail, the used the pointy-ended screw to drill itself in. It took a couple of tries to get it straight but it is actually very sturdy.

If I may, I want to make another suggestion for people doing this mod, but aren't replacing the plunger head.
If you don't replace the plunger head, then don't put the cpvc coupler entirely in the front of the plunger tube. Rather, dremel/file it out a little more so the coupler extends ~3/16" out of the front. This will make sure the plunger travels as far as it can.
