First, the finished product:

It's still in need of barrels, but I won't get around to it until later this week, when I won't have time to write it up. I'm assuming we all know how to cut brass, right?

It's PistolSplat PS800 with a Tek 10 turret MacGyverred on the front. As is the common case, this is a "Hey, it works! Now, time to write it up!" sort of write-up, so there are no 'in progress' pics, just ones that show the finished product and ask you to imagine along.

Okay, that disclaimer aside, here's the materials list (aside from the PS800 and Tek 10):

• PVC 4" to 3" reducing coupler
• 1-1/2" Fender washer
• 37mm (diameter) hose clamp
• 17/32" brass
• 9/16" brass
• 9" Wire tie
• A spacer - I used a thick o-ring, but anything 1/8" or so thick should do

Tools:

• Hacksaw with metal blade
• Drill
• 9/16" bit
• 1/4" bit
• Plumber's goop
• File

The PistolSplat

Pry/cut off the collars for the ammo feed and barrel and open the blaster. (Make sure it is not cocked first.) Remove any safeties that annoy you, any non-ergo tabs of plastic, and the barrel moving bar.

Chop off the body to the wall holding the piston tube in.

Cut off the 'lower receiver' to just beyond the last wall before the trigger itself.

Truncate the trigger guard at about the same plane. See below for details:

Take the fender washer and cut off the last 1/4", then use Plumber's Goop to attach it to the rubber washer face of the piston tube and the right (as you hold the PS800) half of the pistol. Let dry.

The Turret

Take a Tek 10 turret and drill it out with the 9/16" bit. Cut off the nub at the end of inner workings, that only gets in the way.

The Turret Shroud

The side view ofa 4" to 3" reducing coupler looks essentially like this:

Then, take smaller cut cylinder and epoxy it in the larger one.

Then cut a notch on the back rim 7/8" wide and 1/2" deep for the PistolSplat's screw hump. The final product looks like this:

Note - best to cut the notch narrow, then use the file to enlarge to size.

Assembly

Put a spacer under the 'far' end of the turret body (the end away from the muzzle). This will keep the turret lined up against the fender washer when clamped down.Use the hose clamp to affix the Tek 10 turret to the sawed off PS800.

Test fit the turret shroud, enlarging the notch until the PS's screw hump fits snugly.

Take the 1/4" bit and shoot two holes in the front of the shroud in line with each edge of the notch. Thread zip tie through holes, use to attach to screw hump to force turret against fender washer.

Insert brass.

Comments:

• I don't have ranges for this. The PS800 is so powerful it makes lateral tears in my Streamlines. The thing packs a wallop.
  
• See above for accuracy. Basically, I need to make stefans. I just need some foam or blanks.
  
• Rate of fire ... mixed. The inner collar is just a little too long for me to have an easy grip on the orange barrels. I'll add longer barrels, but twisting the turret by the brass makes me nervous. Still, a breechloading wheelgun is nothing to scoff at.
  
• The airflow is slightly offset because the PS800's barrel is too thick to line up straight with the Tek 10 turret.

Nice mod, but what's the point of the PVC shroud? PVC parts get pretty expensive as they get to the larger sizes, at least in my experience. It also seems to me like it would make the gun front heavy.

Sounds like a plan. I've not had much experience selecting barrel lengths, so any help is appreciated. I'll post a pic of it when I get around to it, but my week is looking somewhat busy.

It's to give me a way to push the turret against the fender washer and form a tight seal. Other people have used bits of metal and plastic in the shape of a claw to do the needful, but the PS800 has that screw hump in the way. If/when I redo this mod, I'll try to build out a housing for the turret hub and try to keep the advancing mechanism functioning.

The part was $3 at the local Ace hardware. It's very light, and the PS800 doesn't feel much heavier in front with it on than with just the turret. It is front heavy, though. Maybe a stock might help. I'll give it some thought - thanks for pointing that out.

Do 6" barrels on it. The simple logic is that brass and petg come in 1 ft sections. This way, you get 2 barrels per section. If it can't handle the 6" ones, just cut an inch of the ends and use it for dart holders. At least this way won't waste 2" and find that you ended up needing it.

i like it..it might be a good idea puting a stock on it..having it feel more like a rifle-sort of thing..nice mod
