This Gun needs a name Help me with Ideas...
Ok so this first pic is the gun in its finished state... From this point on I will show you some of the finer points of the gun and some of its construction.

Now her we have the Air compressor rigging it consists of one 16 dollar 12volt car tire pump I found in my house I had bought it 4 months ago for blowing up bike tires. I found it at K-mart and I'm shurr you could find others for cheaper.

The Clip was a quick and easy thing to do I just cut down the clip and dropped in the the battery. The battery was a 12 volt battery you can pick up at radio shack with the female connectors for your project in the same package.

Here is the main action of the gun with the gray case over the firing pin. Under the gun is the connector that is hooked up to the compressor switch I ran it though the clip mount so i can switch out pack with ease.

In this shot I have removed the cover plate to show how the rest of the tank fits into the gun the only mod I couldn't show you if the trigger being connected to the recon trigger. I haven't extended the tank yet because I didn't want to touch that seal.

This is the barrel extension for the recon with a simple laser mounted to the top of the barrel it has been sited in. the light on the bottom has been mounted in place and fastened with epoxy and a screw that opens the converted battery compartment.

This last pick show the brass barrel that was mounted to the tank it fits flush with the extension and is centered with the laser site mounted on the extension.

Range: Average of 200 (Homemade darts)
Max Psi: I have only ever brought it to 70psi
Size:Slightly Smaller then the Recon
Price:Bigshot $5, Airpump $15, Recon was an old chop shoped gun.
Warning:I will never shot anything with some thing that I havent hit my self with and I took a 70 psi shot with a Homemade dart at a range of 10ft I have welts...
Its Story:It all started with a $5 big blast from 5 or below and after removing the tip of the barrel so it would fire homemade darts. I found that I could with ease peg my buddy from over 70ft. Dont get me wrong it was better then I thought for a $5 gun, but in my eyes it wasn't close to what I wanted so I tracked down in my work shop my old plug in compressor that you can find at k mart for all around 15-40 dollars. With that in hand it had begun I pulled the whole firing and barrel rig from the big blast and an old recon that had been scrapped for some part on an old mod and started to build. My first step was to remove the plunger slide from the air tank of the big blast and with some epoxy and hot glue I mounted the hose of the compressor into the back of the tank making shurr it was sealed tight and no air would leak out. next I wen to to work on the barrel that I cut out the plastic black stock one from the big blast and mounted in a copper one that was then to glued together. With this done the whole action of pump to tank and barrel was complete I went onto building it into the recon. This was the hard part after lost of cutting and removing all the internals I built the barrel and tank into the main part of the Recon. After that was done I started on the butt end of the gun by building the compressor into the back of the butt.u can find at k mart for all around 15-40 dollars. To save you more of this long boring story The range was 200ft flat with the tank and the compressor sitting at 70 psi and after 20 more shots it leveled out at 200ft the range test was done with the same homemade dart to test that it would keep range and the shot was tested in dead wind.

Very nice idea, using a battery-powered compressor to charge the BBB tank. I'm guessing you muzzle-load (ramrod?) the dart somehow?

How quickly does it charge up, how loud is it when it does, how do you turn it on/off, and most importantly, how do you keep it from blowing up your blaster?

Apologize if any of the above questions were answered in your block of text, but it made my eyes hurt to try to parse it, so I will admit to skimming/skipping much of it.

[edit] Oh, and if it ranges 200', there's no way anyone will allow it in a war. You may want to look for ways to shotgun the output so it decreases range (and increases chance of hitting people.)

Woah. That thing reminds me of Frankenstein, or a Cyborg. It's really sloppy with exposed parts, but that sort of adds to the look in some ways. Really interesting.

And so the recon is only for looks, right? The clip and breech system is no longer in place?

I have to agree with Captain here - the blaster looks really post-apocalyptic dark-future. I love the (functional) pressure gauge in the stock.

The reason I posted again was to answer his question, seeing that you posted already and left it unanswered - the Recon's clip holds the battery. Most likely, the Recon itself is just the grip / shell. I'd love to see the trigger internals.

Seeing as the BBBB internals are exposed, you probably don't want them to explode in your face. It might hurt....a lot.

You may want to find a way to cover the BBBB tank.

Maybe sheet metal or even wood, because if that thing blows up in your face it's going to hurt, a lot.

We also are not in the habbit of encouraging potentially dangerous modifications. 70 PSI in a Big Blast tank is out of the range of safe operation. By refusing to aknowledge that fact or even to address that concern, you essentially encourage the kids that read these boards to perform a dangerous modification. I don't care if you maim yourself, but I can't have you telling 13 year old kids reading my boards to do the same.

VACC, speaking of 13 year old kids and potentially dangerous air guns...that is the exact fucking reason I do not do the following:

1) Plug any sort of pumps on anything.
2) Try to push air tanks beyond it's average capacity
3) Hook up shit to my air gun that isn't meant to be there (ex. air compressor)

I believe our under 18-audience on these boards should all think these thoughts alike.

Plugging pumps is fine as long as you aren't stupid with it. By it's nature, the oprv releases air before the tank is at it's max capacity. As long as you don't push it past it's full capacity, you will have a better shooting gun.

My concern is that 'max capacity' will decrease over the lifetime of the product. Let's face it, this stuff is cheap plastic. It may go up to 30 PSI new, but after a year of being banged about, micro fractures may form.

Bringing this back to the OP and the mod, I don't think I'll try to do this myself. I may do an electric air compressor + airgun mod, but I'll find some way to put in an OPRV or other safety cutoff. Running the air tank at 70 PSI just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, especially if the blaster is going to handled roughly.

I figure anything you don't want to be shot point-blank with is not worth doing. 200 feet sounds great, but I highly doubt anyone will allow it in a war.

I do like the look of the piece. It has that fugly, functional look from a sci.fi film.
