So I put a new barrel on my NF, a 9/16 copper barrel. I wrapped the plunger head in a couple layers of electrical tape to complete the seal.

Now, my problem is the darts don't fly out the barrel very far, Maybe five feet at the best. I don't know if my fbr is too small, the barrel is too big, or there is something else I'm missing?

First off, is it brass or copper? Second what fbr do you use? third how long is your barrel?

Copper. The barrel is 4" long. And right now I have Caulksaver fbr.

It's the copper barrel. It's shitty material.

Aside from PETG, what would be a better material do you believe would be best?

Nothing I have found fits my darts snuggly, even then you'd want some room for the dart to move freely, no?

Also, I've followed Rag's mod pretty much to the letter.

Are you sure it is copper not brass? Copper is a red color. I think it is brass because I do not believe that there is such a thing as 9/16 copper.

Just how many layers of e tape did you use for the plunger? It should be enough so that you can hold the plunger in and blow in the barrel without any leaks yet loose enough to slide faily easily. Also, lube the plunger.

It's copper. I know what copper looks like. The measurement is the outside of the pipe.

And the plunger is pretty much perfect now. It leaked at first, then I added the tape, now it's not leaking and it moves pretty smoothly.

Since when is copper red?

And if the dart can slide down the barrel and there's a lot of extra space in there, it's too loose.

Listen to Talio and throw the copper away. Get either cpvc, pvc, petg, or brass.

Since when is copper red?

Copper has a reddish tint.

Thanks. Now I have the problem of trying to get the hotglue from the barrel assembly. I may buy a new gun since they're only $10, and I'd have an abundant supply of spare parts.

No. In a spring powered gun you want the darts to have a pretty good amount of friction to achieve maximum distance, only in an air gun do you want the dart to move freely, but it still shouldn't have room around it for air to get out. Use CPVC for a barrel, something a little more snug would be ideal, but CPVC will do just fine. Also, as stated before, lube the plunger.

The hot glue should just peel right off, it tends to stick to itself better than other things, try using hot glue to set things in place, then epoxy/epoxy putty to secure it down.

If you want to get hot glue off, put the gun in the freezer for a few min. The hot glue will pop right off with a little force

Ah, there's the thing, in order to secure the copper, since it wouldn't stay put very well just being attached to the end of the plunger housing, I filled some excess space with glue.

What size cpvc would you recommend? What's the difference? I know that standard and schedule 40 pvc is plain white, or slightly off white.

1/2 in CPVC is what you want and its pretty obvious what the difference is, one is more dart sized. And don't worry about not being able to get the glue out, it'll come out with some muscle.

Get 1/2 in. CPVC not Pvc. 1/2 in. Pvc's thickness is too big for a pistol, like the nightfinder. While your there pick up some cpvc couplers, and a hacksaw or pipe cutter.

Well copper is not sized the way brass is the od of 1/2" copper is 5/8" while the od of 1/2" brass is 1/2".

Did you put too many layers of e-tape on the plinger head? If so This might cause the plunger head to have too tight of a fit and make it move slower.

The plunger head is NOT the problem. The plunger moves smoothly, puffs out plenty of air, and moves fast enough.

Also, mine is copper. I'll be getting some cpyc and couplers tonight.

1/2" CPVC is the right size for 1/2" darts, keep in mind stock darts do NOT fit in CPVC. Use CPVC if you are using foam from the hardware store.

1/2 inch CPVC. This is what I use for my nitefinders since I don't have any PETG. I use the same foam as you as well. The caulksaver foam in 1/2 inch CPVC is perfect. It is really tight in the barrel and gives me excellent ranges. I just CPVC'd a nitefinder a few days ago. I added an O-Ring and have only the original spring in it. I am getting 52 - 58ft. flat.

CPVC works well with most spring guns, air guns like a looser barrel.
But this all depends on your dart fit.
