Step 1: Cut this nub thing so the chain can go all around



Step 2: Open it up and drill out the air output a little, lube it, and improve the seal


Step 3: Drill out the chain pieces so it still seals, but you can fit a dart through.


Step 4: Wrap E-Tape around your barrel material of choice and stick it in all four chain pieces. There is a ridge thing inside the chain so you won't be able to push the CPVC all the way back.



Step 5: Wrap E-Tape around the barrels so they stay in place, and you're done.


Ranges are around 40 to 50 feet, I haven't measured.

In all honesty, I couldn't understand your write-up very well. What does it matter if this is mostly the same? As long as there's something different it could help anyone get ideas about what to do with a rototrack. For my very first mod I followed parts of different people's NF mods.

Plus, we did this "field expedient" mod entirely at a picnic table at the park between rounds.

But you're right - there's no question that this was inspired by others, including yours.

Something to watch out for if anyone else drills the silver chains for rear-loading: the flanges at the back are not quite concentric with the barrels. I opened them up just a little at a time with a reamer (almost exactly like this one), stopping frequently to check centering from the inside, rather than using the belt segment's rim to center on. I also used the reamer to clean up both ends of the CPVC after cutting. (Blue did all the rest.)

If I'd been at home with my full kit, I might have picked a drill bit which fits tightly inside of CPVC, and started the drilling from the inside using a piece of scrap CPVC, wrapped with a little teflon tape, as an "automatic centering" jig.

1/2" should be good for most CPVC, but 13mm might be better.
