Time to share a mod with the people here..

Ever get tired of removing 22 screws over and over again each time you want mod and test your LS ?
Then you end up with either less or even more screws than you started with?
Better yet you end up eating up the screw heads clean and now its stuck ?

Solution:
Remove all 22 screws and keep them aside or you can melt them down and make a giant screw pendant like i did.

Tools:
Dremel / Drill and small drill bit ( sizing TBA and depends on your screws )

Parts:
9 stainless steel screws (various lengths) and nuts

Extras:
Nerves of steel because drilling through your gun takes balls and patience to work your dremel or drill and get it straight..

How to:

Choose 6 strategic points on the main guns and 3 on the butt.
These points are where you once had to use the standard screws.
These points basically hold the gun together even with only the 6 screws in place.
You can cock the gun and load clips and all that and the gun will work fine.
I will post a pic of the points on the gun.

Now take a drill bit and drill through the gun and make sure make a clean exit through the other end.
Do this for all 9 points.
Take your stainless steel screws and nuts and start placing them through the holes and placing the nuts
inside the holes
where the screw heads once sat.
Tighten them and you will notice that the nuts will sit inside the holes snugly and you need to only turn the bolts to
tighten and loosen
them.
So now you need only an allen tool to remove screws and having 9 screws its a lot faster and simpler too.

The 9 points

Hope this helps

** You can always use more screws but it found that these 9 has been sufficient and the gun works with no problems at all

If you use wing nuts instead of normal ones, you can open it by hand, and you should put locking washers or lock nuts on it because the vibration from firing might jiggle the nuts loose.

Good idea. I have never put all 22 screws back in place. I just put the important ones back in.

So you drilled some holes in you LS and put some bolts through it because you were tired of taking out screws. Really. And this is an inprovement how? I can just see the case being held together poorly in most places, but you do what works for you.

Not really. He put the screws in more important places, so the gun is still held up well all around.
I like it. It gets annoying to constantly take the screws out of a gun. Nice work.

This is a handy mod idea, hopefully I won't need to open up my LS multiple times.

It seems to me that if you really are so lazy that you can't take the screws out of a gun, you should've just left 9 screws in there. Much simpler.

I am not sure wing nuts would nuts would look nice but if that works for you then that will great.
And the nuts i happen to use were small enough to fit inside the holes where the screws once sat inside so they are held in place nicely. I only need to use the allen tool to remove or tighten the bolts.

Yes, flying chicken is right, you can screw in enough screws and it will still hold the case together nicely without any faults to the gun.

If you opened your LS and you just held the case together with a rubber band and wound it on each end tightly, it would also work but rubber bands don't look professional enough.

The common fact that you can lose 1 or more of the 22 screws due to the fact that screws were uber small is there.
** You wont lose these bolts as they are longer and such
The chances of you stripping the screw head due to their poor quality is also there.
** These bolts are SS and have an allen head design
The chances of you totally wrecking the part where the screw threads in due to countless times you had to open and close up your LS is also there.
** That part has been drillled out and you just run the bolts through them instead.

This mod allows you to choose 9 points as shown by me or at your own discretion choose another set of 9 or less or more points.

This also means members that have screwed up their screws (pun intended) and/or lost thier screws can do this mod and vary according to their needs.

Btw you are right that i can leave 9 stock screws there but i would rather stick in 9 SS screws threading through the case than 9 wimpy screws that can tear away at the plastic inside.

It was not a matter of being lazy, it was just a way for me to access my gun internals in a more efficient way and not havin to worry about losing or strippin the screws.

No disrespect to anyone when i reply to their posts and comments.
As such I appreciatte all the comments and feedback on this mod and will try my best to answer any queries anyone may have/
Thank you

** i ill post more pics of the completed mod on my LS

You could've put all that into one post.

I can see how this would be useful, but there are some times when just leaving certain screws in is cheaper and easier.

Whatever floats your boat.
