Hey guys, here is a write-up on how to mod your dart tag blaster.

1) Take out all your screws. The screws in the cocking bar are different sized, so keep them separated. Here is what the internals look like.

Posted Image

2) Take out the turret.

Posted Image

3) Remove all screws from the back.

Posted Image

4) Take apart your turret, here is what it should look like.

Posted Image

5) Take these pieces out of the turret. The spring, and the three pronged disc. What is on the ground should be thrown away.

Posted Image

6) Now take these pieces out of the turret.

Posted Image

7) Use wire cutters to cut the prong. All you have left is the disc.

Posted Image

8) Use sandpaper to sand down what's left of the prong.

Posted Image

Here are your finished air restrictors.

Posted Image

9) Put your air restrictors back into the turret.

Posted Image

10) Take an ACE #49 spring and mark 1 inch from one end.

Posted Image

11) Cut the mark so the spring is 1 inch shorter. Here is the finished spring.

Posted Image

12) Now take these pieces out of the gun.

Posted Image

Here are the parts taken apart.

Posted Image

13) Take the old spring off. ( Keep it, it works wonders in mavericks.) Put the cut down #49 spring on. Here is a photo of the plunger rod with the new spring.

14) Remove the "o" ring. Wipe off the lubricant with your sleeve. Wrap a layer of e-tape around. Place the "o" ring back on and lube it. Here if your finished plunger head.

Posted Image

15) Place all parts back in. Here is a photo of the modified internals.

Posted Image

16) Screw your gun back together. Here is your finished gun.

You're done! Now you have a DTB that shoots 50 ft!

What are you using to cut the spring? I'm scared to hell when sparks fly out of the spring when I dremel it.
Is that spring providing adequate plunger pull?

Nice!

You should do the plunger extension mod which obviously increases the distance of the plunger draw. Hope that made sense.

i dont think the extension mod will work mainly because the length of the compressed spring will be too great.

Really big bolt cutters handed down from my grandpa. Yea, without cutting it down the plunger pull wouldn't reach the catch, so that's why I cut it down.

Thanks K9. I wasn't really going for anything spectacular, just a clear, clean DTB mod.

I've never owned a DTB, so I don't know if you had a specific reason for not doing this, but why not drill out the air restrictors for better airflow? I figure it couldnt hurt ranges.

I cut that exact spring for my singled RFS modification, and I used my dremel's cutting wheel. It wasn't too bad, Just cut in small increments, and keep the spark flow away from yourEYE PROTECTIONED face.

On topic: Its nice to see clear, coherent modifications during this flood of noobs here lately. I just have one question, Why didn't you cut out the AR's?

Last time I cut out the AR's ( which was like a year ago ) the DTB's ranges went down the toilet. You have to be very careful when doing that step. I'll try to get through them today. Hopefully it will be done by tomorrow.

Could you do a straw mod like you would do to the maverick?

Also how much range does it add when you add the DTB spring to the Maverick?

Good Write-up.

I don't think the straw mod would work the same way in a DTB.

I got 40 ft from AR removal and the DTB spring on my last one.

The maverick has a reverse plunger system while the DTB has a plunger system similar to a nitefinder.

This gun may lack originality, but is very cleanly done.

I've been working on a CPVC'd dart tag blaster and it hasn't been working out.

I might just have to take it apart AGAIN and do this to it.

Very clean. I would just reinforce the plunger rod because I did this to an old DTB and the plunger snapped on me.

Nice write-up. All it needs now is a barrel replacement and this gun could get in the 60's.

The yellow balls are also slightly smaller in diameter than the green ones.

Actually, Hi Yah, dart tag blasters don't really work with barrel replacements. The normal barrels shoot the same as new CPVC barrels or 17/32nds brass barrels. ( I've used a DTB with all three )

This is true for mine too. If i put a stephan in my cpvc three-inch barrels it won't even come out.

My PETG'd DTB works nicely. I'll put a write up on here this week.

Even if it is the same tightness wouldn't help since you wouldn't have dead space between the AR and the End of the turret?

Nice Write Up the same thing happened to me when I cut out my ARs.

How does that hurt the ranges? If it does I know why my petg'd dtb only goes 40ft. The dtb has only an nf and lsfg srping.

Use a but load of super glue. When I changed my dtb's spring I snapped the plunger rod on accident. Then I got my dad to super glue it.

As far as barrel replacements/modifications go, I got the best results of anything I tried by jamming 17/32 brass down the stock barrels. I did this with the DTB I used on my Longshot/DTB integration, and it gives it a very nice kick. However, mine has the stock spring with a Tek 6 under it as a power source, so that makes a difference I'm sure.
