I just bought a MacBook, and I installed Windows Vista Home Premium through boot camp to game. I can log on just fine and the Windows OS is working perfectly, but I have one problem, I cant connect to the internet. I have wireless and when I try to search for wireless devices my modem doesn't show up. Even when I plug it in with an Ethernet cable it doesn't connect. It does say something about Drivers, but I am very, very unfamiliar with windows so I have no clue where to find them without internet and which ones are needed. Any help is appreciated.

Um... its a Mac.

A 2.0 GHz processor is weak... My BASIC HP laptop has a 2.5GHz dual core, so essentially 5 GHz or total power.

Save yourself the time. Don't buy a Mac.

I know I didn't answer your question, but it was a pre-emptive strike.

And most likely yes, it is the same computer with a wimpy processor for 100 dollars more.

Heyyyyyy I didn't start this thread for a Mac vs. PC flame war... I buy Mac because I find it easier to use and I like the OS.

Well, I guess I was mistaken, weird.

Btw, 2.0 GHz isn't wimpy, its just average.

First: Busta, shut your pie hole.

Second: spartan, you were probably looking at the entry level iMac, which is $1,199 with a 2.6Ghz processor.

Wait... what? That made no sense. ATI sucks so why is that good that they shipped with it?

And about the CPU speed:

Its wimpy for us HARDCORE steroid addicted gaming fiends. You know... those guys who sit there and brag about their rigs and spew off numbers to crap you don't care about? Those guys who will sit around Best Buy, making snide comments when you look at the Mac display? Those guys who think the only use for computers is gaming? To us, 2.0 and even 2.6 GHz is pretty sad, but then again, thats only because we feel a need to push computers to the limits to play games.

I will admit, having used both Macs and PCs, I would really like to see a merging of the two. The music and photo editing of a Mac, the ability to upgrade, game and do actual codding of a PC...

Wow... I am Captain Rants-a-lot

Most consumer Laptops ship with a dual core now a-days. Is that what it is? Or a single core?

No, I was just telling you to shut your pie hole because you were stepping into a thread about Macs with an "it's just a stupid Mac" comment....much like Gabe in the PA comic I linked to. Tangental reference at best, but I thought it appropriate.

do actual codding of a PC...

Codding? Like, with fish?

Having a dual core processor running at 2.5GHz does not, in ANY way make it even CLOSE to operating at 5GHz. Clock speed and processing power are no longer related like that. And to be honest, unless you are running some form of Linux, then your PC is being hampered by your operating system.

Especially with Vista. Have you seen how much background crap Vista runs?

And yeah... I realize that now... I failed

I think we should cut the crap and just answer his goddam question.
I can't say what the old Macbooks were; the only one available now is the 2.13 for $999.
As for the new Macbooks, so far as I know, there is (and have only ever been) the 2.0 ($1299) and the 2.4GHz ($1599.)
You may have possibly been looking at the 15" Macbook Pro - Macbooks only come in 13", however the Pros come in 15 and 17". 15" models are 2.4 and 2.66GHz priced at $1999 and $2499 respectively. The 17" model is 2.66GHz and $2799.

So in answer to your question, no, there has never been a 2.66GHz Macbook model, and no, they haven't bumped the price up $100 for a 'weaker' processor.

Facts and figures taken off the Apple website, but I know from experience that shops never sell at lower prices than Apples prices. Occasionally they sell higher, but never lower.

I'm sure you're able to decide which model it was yourself.

http://store.apple.c...mac/family/imac

Apple have changed the processors (and prices) on the iMacs once or twice though, so it may well have been the iMacs you were thinking of.

First off, did you install all the things that bootcamp tells you to install? There should be a function in bootcamp that tells you to put in the install disk for the Mac OS X disk when windows is booted up. THat way, you can install all the drivers for the video card, the airport card (wireless card) bluetooth, and all the other hardware goodies on your computer.

Thats weird, it didn't tell me to do that. Are you saying when I have windows running put in the Mac OSX disk?

Also, for future mac questions, you should try the website www.macrumors.com. They have really great forums with some really helpful people. They also have apple/mac/iphone/ipod etc. news.
