I'm in the process of a spring replacement in my crossbow and I'm considering using a cut down X-treme air Arrowstorm spring. Would this work? is this my best option? And if so how much should i cut off?

Twitch used a full length original arrowstorm spring in his, and it works great. I doubt you'd need to cut it down. You can always put it in, see how far it pulls and if it works and modify it from there if you want.

Make sure you reinforce the hell out of the crossbow before you do though.

Meh, had an arrowstorm spring in my crossbow for around 10 years with nothing but two screws shot behind the spring retainer walls at the rear of the plunger tube. Never had a problem with it.

I just put the spring in and it doesn't compress enough to cock. Advice?

Try cutting off pieces of the spring in 1/4" intervals until you find the length that you find easiest to prime without sacrificing strength.

As for your signature, what are you planning on fucking with a hacksaw? That's gotta' be some kinky-ass porn you're making.

Try lubricating the hell out of the plunger tube. It should help with the easing down of the friction and make the pull a lot easier on you and the o-ring. May I suggest using silicone based lubricant for not destroying your o-ring also.

The X-Bow has no O-Ring. Ar15's suck or otherwise weaker than shit. I would use some type of industrial spring with about 3/4th's the strength of a Plus Bow spring.

Well, I do use 100% silicone lube but it's not so much me not being able to prime it as it is that the spring can't compress enough for it to catch.

Pfft. What do you know? He's talking about a different arrowstorm. Get with it, OLD MAN! This one is MAD stronger!

Anyway, Shrub, we all still hate you. AR-15 rifle buffer springs aren't that weak.

I have 2/3rds of a new arrowstorm spring in mine, works like a charm. I have the other third in my longshot, which also works quite well.

Which just so happens to be exactly what I have and use. McMaster has it here.
