A Short Story.

Also I am not sure if anyone has ever seen the original box for one of these guys on the NIC.
In all my days of Nerfing I have always wanted to get my hands on one of these blasters.
A friend in California really helped make it happen.
A short story.
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Shit, that is amazing. The only thing rarer than that has gotta be the SM1.5K arrow shooter... NIB.
Nice, I can see Orange contacting you shortly.
It's just screaming to be rearloading...
I seen a movie about that once.

That's really cool. I believe I saw the same Craigslist entry - Chico, if I remember correctly. In my high school days, I drove up to Chico many times, but that was from Sacramento. I considered making the much longer trip from here - the very same long drive KDizzle has accomplished - but my schedules would not permit it. And, I must admit, my interest as a collector was not sufficient to reschedule my other activities. I was sad. Mostly, sad that this rare find would probably disappear again into the obscurity of the unknown, perhaps never again to be appreciated by true enthusiasts.
It's a tiny thing to me, but today that sadness has been replaced with an equivalent joy. Yay!
I can understand treating the set with reverence and displaying it from a place of honor, but even in stock form ... you must have tested them at least a little?
Aww! Bob were you the "other person interested"? I was planning on making a nice fun trip to Chico with Camille and Jordan, but when I found out there was someone else interested in the blasters I busted a mission that night after I got off work at 1:30am. I drove to San Jose to pick up a friend and we left by like 2:30. We didn't get to Chico until a little past 5:00am. Then I had to jam back to drop off my friend and make it back to Hayward for class at 9:20. Dang you Bob!

P.S. I never realized how close Toronto is to Massachusetts. You're not quite as far away as I had imagined.

-Don't paint it
-Don't mod it
-Do clean it and make it as close to new as possible.
Ultimately, whatever you do is up to you.

Guys this is FA24 we are taking about with this gun here. You know if he's going to mod it and he's going to paint it that its going to be nothing short of Effeminate. As a stock gun this thing is a dream, once FA gets done with it I'm sure it will be something we will all be seeing in our nightmares.

I have Suggestions as well
- Do paint it
- Do mod it.

If he was going to paint it, why not just buy an SM5K?

This is a very cool looking gun but the choice is yours to mod it or not to mod it.
EDIT: I am somewhat hoping for mods though. . .

I'm COMPLETELY against that statement. Answer me this if you would, if you found one of those for sale near you and you bought it, would you mod it? And if he really wanted to mod it, he could just use a SM5K for the same results and let it get banned again. Is that what you really want?I have Suggestions as well

Banned from where?
Up here in Canada we don't really ban guns unless they are dangerous.
We've had big blasts shooting at each other from 30 feet or less.
Max shots, Doomsayers and other 100' shooters getting each other from close range.
Maybe it's the air up here but it seems like we might be a bit more battle hardened.
because our definition of "Dangerous" is a term taken very lightly.
Banned? I think not.
The only gun that has been banned up here is the singled Titans.
Why? Well it put a hole in Cobra10's arm.
Plugged big blasts I can see banning too but the situation never came up.
Also why would I want to modify it over a normal SM5K?
The sweet mother fucking stock on the back!
It's so comfy and definitely comparable to an X-bow stock.
I am also tempted to mod it because the SM9K has a small leak somewhere.
Which is taunting me to open it up.
I also want to mod it because well that's what I do.
I don't feel the way I used to do.

That"s from the Mag7 rules.Banned Guns:
ALL Titans
5ks
Doomsayers
Homemade Air guns
Guns with plugged pumps that were designed to shoot anything larger than a mega dart. (LBB/BBBB, Signal Launchers, etc.)
Any shield aside from a single, intact manta ray. (Hits on anything else must be taken.)
Your right on what you do. I can't disagree with that.

To the issue at hand, it's FA's set of guns to do with what he sees fit. So what if they're rare? I find no enjoyment from having a collector's piece sitting around, gathering dust while guns with less perceived (or real, if you're one of those types of people) value are toyed modified without consequence. Even then, most people don't seem to have a problem cracking open a Crossbow to modify, or even a SuperMaxx 1000. The majority of us are in the community to modify blasters, and that is how most of us derive enjoyment. While this following remark may be seem disparaging, it isn't meant that way; I don't give a fuck how rare or valuable these guns are, they're toys with the intention of being played with. Sometimes those toys will cost lots of money, but they're still toys with the same intentions.
FA, I doubt any member on this board has the power to sway you one way or another in terms of modifying these guns. They are yours to do with what you will and that's something I can respect, but I will say it seems like a bit of a shame to see guns this rad be hung on a wall and left unused while things like your Doomsayer get playtime. I know exactly what I would do if I were the one to have purchased these guns, and I am fairly certain that I would've enjoyed every minute of taking them apart and planning something ridiculous. Too often, both in Nerf and out, projects are shelved for reasons that, in the long run, are insignificant. I hope this shan't become one of them.
If I may say one more thing, though; painting them would be a shame. That's an awesome stock shade of brown.

Yes, yes it is. The stock on these things is amazing. I'm lucky enough to own one, but I've also owned an x-bow, and I must say that they are comperable. On that note though, there is also the fact that it's its own piece of the shell, meaning you can detatch it and put it on any SM5k, which is what I plan to do with mine (Fix up my 5k, and when I use it, use the ST9k stock on it).
they're toys with the intention of being played with. Sometimes those toys will cost lots of money, but they're still toys with the same intentions.
I just wanted to second this. Unless you got it for some low price and were going to re-sell it and make a huge profit, I entirely agree.

Being dangerous is not the driving force behind most restrictions I would place. I mean, look at that...Up here in Canada we don't really ban guns unless they are dangerous.
That"s from the Mag7 rules.Banned Guns:
ALL Titans
5ks
Doomsayers
Homemade Air guns

...we banned non manta-ray shields...c'mon. If someone came to a war with an unplugged 5k I'd certainly take a look. Hell, I'd prefer that to split's 1500. The restrictions are only in place to make it easier for us to quickly start a war without checking everybody's weapons before hand, and it's not an exact science. Sometimes the restrictions work perfectly, and sometimes they do not. If people were more interested in having a good time nerfing than finding loopholes to gain the maximum advantage from a weaponry standpoint, none of it would be neccessary.
Regardless, I don't really think that is the point of this thread. Save talks of efficacy and legality for the modification thread.

If I found one of these guns I probabally wouldn't touch it because I know I would F it up. And not in a good way. I'd give it to angel to mod for me. I'm not really much of a collector though. A sweet primary I would take any day over a collectors item.
