Currently this is WIP, however I hope to use this topic as a place of discussion where ideas and development can be passed around.

I've already posted this on NHQ, and had a few replies, mainly 'wow this is gunna be awsum!!' and not much help. I hope you guys can be a little more helpful.

I suggest you read the original topic. This saves me having to paste/quote everything, plus peoples comments and my replies which include relevant information. I think that topic covers most points, however feel free to ask me any questions about anything, presuming it hasn't already been answered on NHQ.

As a continuation from the end of that topic, currently I have started working on the MDF mock up, and hopefully soon I will cast the carrier dog in aluminium.

Bascially you're making it needlessly complex. The 6rnd magazine for it works perfectly fine and gives it a much higher rate of fire than even the Maverick, which is prone to jamming and misfires. A tube magazine like you're envisioning is simply out of the question unless you work shells into it, which will reduce the Recon's pathetic range even further.

If you had read the topic properly like I suggested...

The whole reason to build it is that it's a fun challenge for myself - a project if you like. Yes, it will be fun if/once it's done and I don't plan on using it in wars. It's just for personal achievement

....

Like I said before, it's just a personal accomplishment rather than anything - I know there will be no 'practical reward', and I dont care if it affects the recons range or 'loading speed' or anything. So long as I can make it, i'll be happy.

As I understand it, a nerf pump shotgun would also have to use shells, or else the darts would be severely deformed and smashed. If you have shells, you have to have shell ejection, and that's even harder than the carrier dog.

I know it won't work perfectly every time, but getting it to work first of all is my first goal - then I can fine tune it. Despite what you say, I am confident in my design. It's just whether I can put it into practice that will take work! And I don't think it'll chew up the darts. I'll be using a relatively weak spring in the magazine, so it doesnt crush them, but enough to push them along. We'll just have to see if it does eat darts as much as you say. If it does, I'll just (attempt) to fix it.

Do it, post it when you're done. The thing about new ideas is that they are new, nobody can offer you advice on something that has never been done before, so just try it and tell us what happens.

Damn it Foamfoot. Why is it that you kill every good topic with a retarded response a few days late.

No, we do everything we can to discourage theory/design threads because they never result in anything actually being made. I've been guilty of making such topics in the past and the same held true for most of them.

Do it, then post about it. Not vice versa.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

There's a whole two years of people attempting this in the homemade section of nerfhaven. They didn't get too far.

http://nerfhaven.com...7556&hl=shotgun

I have seen that topic before. I haven't read all of it, but its a homemade - using a recon already has all the parts ready for you. All you need to then do is convert it, rather than starting from scratch.

Granted, yes, there is a chance this will never be completed and I'll look a dick, but it'll never be built if I never try.
I'll try and take some pictures of my MDF mock-up today. It's not much, but it'll show some progress.
