A while back I had a chance to enter into a nerf modding contest, it was a three way tie. The prize was just bragging rights. It was fun making it. Anywho I also entered a little story along with the pictures

"This is my Class 2 Entry (Edit: class 2 was just cosmetic)
Introducing the
Maverick 6.66 also affectionately known as “Painless”

The Maverick 6.66 It was the answer to the customer’s complaints of cheating (mainly done by little fat kids who said they can out run a Nerf dart).
The 6.66 is a semi automatic blow-back revolver. The action was so heavy that sometimes the slide would break and launch itself across the room embedding itself in a wall or who ever was in front of the wall- So a chain lanyard was added to protect the shooter. The 6.66 was outfitted with a 15 ¼” blade that was designed for hacking and skinning. With the combined Spikes the entire surface area of the 6.66 turned into one giant cutting, blunt-force-trauma inducing anti-cheating device. The R&D was messy…

Sadly the 6.66 never made it past the R&D stage because of concerns brought on by the VP of Nerf. She felt that the 6.66 did indeed halt all cheating while the gun was on the field, but at what cost.... Many felt that the "Skinning tip" was the straw that broke the camels back. For liability purposes the "6.66" and its "added features" were removed and all documentation was burnt. The designers were slapped around for a good 5 minutes before being released from Nerf. Within hours a “Black on Black” corporation hired them for some R&D development."

I posted this in the "Picture thread" so if anyone went looking for it, logically they could find it there. I'll add the story to it here

Okay, you're doing beautiful work with cosmetics, seriously, that's the best looking maverick I've ever seen. But what is up with the story? It's a nice gun, but most of the people on this forum play nerf to well...nerf. It almost seems like a LARP or something.

Also, I think the rules say no pictures in signatures, just a friendly warning from one new member to another.

You'll do a lot better if you spread the lips with the front. Trying to wriggle the back in there first seems a bit counterintuitive.

It was just a funny story I thought up for the pictures. Thanks for the heads up on the Sig. I'm not familiar with the term "LARP"

LARP is just live action role play. I like the gun a lot and normally I don't like cosmetic things.

Oh, it's way worse than that.

It looks really hard to cock. Do you pull the chain back, or do you pull on the very back of the cocking mech?

Wow, that looks like the perfect tapping blaster since the Lancer, and I love the ceramic/metal look. But, I have to agree with Spud, how do you cock it?

It works the same as any other Maverick, but its meant for display only really. I was thinking of making a "Break glass in case of Zombie" box for it- im sure you have seen those on the net.

Another reason I would never use it is the Maverick is just awful when it comes to power. I still Have my two "Small Soldier" Pistols that can leave a knot on your forehead.

This is by far the coolest maverick paintjob/cosmetics work I have ever seen.

Nice work.

Ryan- Could you weigh the balls for extra oomph? Maybe cut one ball open (like a slit) and spread it so you could get some weights in there?

It looks very nice. The only problem is that its a Maverick. I liked the part in the story about the slide breaking off.

To me it looks like a rail off of an airsoft gun I saw at Sports Authority the other day.
