It has been done by Sniper5000, back on the old NerfOnline forums... However, his site is down and he stopped Nerfing.

It was a fairly simple mechanism, a pump shotgun-style design. You would pump, which would load the shell [and dart] into place, then shoot. Then, the next time you'd pump, the shell would be ejected, and the next case would fall into place.

However, there are several flaws with this design, although it looks good on paper [or in Sniper5k's instance, Flash.] First off, the sizes of the shell casing, barrel, loading things, etc. will definitely not be perfect, thus giving an open window to any difficulties, i.e. shell not ejecting etc. Next, it is almost impossible to find all of these parts and assemble them. Lastly, the cost and work put into getting a single shell for each dart would just be plain stupid; thus contradicting the fact that Nerf is cheaper.

Yeah, my rifle definitely qualifies for the bolt action portion. The shells are ejected out the bottom of the receiver by gravity, but there is no dynamic ejector. It seemed unecessary complexity. The action works very smoothly and it will cycle as fast as you can move the bolt back and forth.

The thing is, unless you simply replaced the bullet in a cartridge with a stefan, shells are completely unnecessary (sp).

Well, essentially the bolt in a gun (this idea coming from bolt semi-auto paintball guns, and of course, real guns) is that the bolt slides forward, sealing the hole in which additional ammunition loads into, and triggers a mechanism (usually uncovering a hole or some sort), which allows the pressurized air to force into the breech, in which it impacts whatever you're shooting and pushes it forward.

In paintball guns and certain CO2 type guns, some of the air used to propel the ammunition is channeled back through a seperate "tube", which is used to push back and lock the bolt in place again, letting the next object drop into place, ready to shoot.

This is a great site for finding out how things work; I linked directly to the paintball gun design.
http://entertainment.../paintball2.htm

Thus, a homemade bolt-action Nerf gun (CO2 will give the best effects) would work similarly to a paintball gun; however, be cautious with working with high-pressurized air. Of course, you can throw in your own modifications and tweaks here and there; I believe boltsniper did alot in this category.

From the site:
The copper thing on the top is the case for the gun, the pvc thing is the bolt, the long brass pipe is the barrel and the small piece of brass is a shell.

Very... Shall I say... Descriptive? Vivid? Indicative? Identifying?

Liquid, after looking around your site for a while...what the fuck did you do to that AT2k? That pistol looks pretty cool though, even if I have no idea how it would work :)

On the AirTech 2000 I just cut off the bulk of the case to make it smaller and look better. Then I just mounted the valve on the pump with epoxy and tape and put it back together. After it was all back together I telescoped some brass into PVC for the barrel. Oh and I almost forgot, I already had the pump plugged and the goo gauge made into an air reservoir. As for the Co2 hand gun I will put a movie up to show people how it works, but its just gravity fed bolt action like boltsnipers gun.
