The only shot with the modified one that was fire parallel to the ground was the 3rd one.

Also, given that plunger stroke remains the same, you're actually better off keeping the wall in place and cutting the spring to fit.

Finally, get a real barrel, as your darts can be seen spiraling out of control.

You're going to want to reinforce that cocking post or it will break under the added pressure of the new spring. Replacing it should be similar to replacing it on a maverick.

I'm pretty sure that was a squirrel (judging from it's long tail, and that it's more common to see a squirrel in backyards instead of bunnies).

For the video, I clicked it a 5 star. The video quality was great, explanation was clear, and results were all legit as we could clearly see from the vid, but like Schizo said... just wished such a well preformed mod was done on a more deserving gun then a LS front gun.

I would disagree since so many people like to attach this gun to the front of their LS. This has a bit of potential. Good mod, though limited on its usefulness.

Okay, but before anybody tries to integrate this onto the Longshot, just a warning that it might be difficult depending on if you want to link both triggers. I know it does work on the lsfg by itself but have not been successful integrating it onto the LS main gun.

So far 35% of the 20 that voted on my arsenal said they wanted more of the LS. I just got this mod together a couple days ago, right in time to make a video. This was meant more for the kids wanting to beef up the range on their lsfg. Many non-nerfers I have found don't have any idea how to use a LS or Recon and end up tearing my darts to pieces jamming them in the guns. But the lsfg is so simple and easy that no one can mess up using it.

Zorn's Lemma has a couple points. In all fairness my backyard does go uphill, so a small angle should be allowed I think. Cutting the spring and leaving the wall I cannot agree with. I tried many spring combos before this, and found the full length of a grounded spring is always better than cutting one up and having one end uneven, because the spring will not compress right. A new barrel might help for stefans or customs, but streamlines are always inaccurate at higher speeds anyway.

There is the question of whether the gun needs reinforced. The #47 spring is powerful, but I have not noticed any strain on the internals yet. So far I have not found anywhere to order the springs online. Many Do-it Best hardware stores could be locally owned and may have different selections of springs. It took several tries before I found this exact combination that worked. I will see about getting the measurements of both springs.

Wow. Excellent video quallity, and a front gun that shoots that far? Very nicely done. Everyone does have some valid points though. Just make sure you keep watch on the internals for any signs of wear.

It's pretty impressive, the video was also great. When I saw it got 45' with the stock barrel I thought you meant no Ar removal. I think for this to be good in an outdoor nerf war it would have to get a new barrel(you might get 60ft. out of it).

Just did this yesterday to an old LS Front gun I had hanging around in a giant tub of guns. Worked great. I got 50 easily and 55 with a stefan. This is a great mod you guys. This is even without a barrel replacement. I am actually home sick from school, and I am installing a brass barrel in it now. Great job Autonerf. Also I love that bunny.

As a compromise, you can add a wood block rather than the stacked pennies, and cut the spring to 2/3 the length.
Or, if there's enough room for the spring to still compress, add a few more pennies/wood block to pre-compress the spring.

The first method will give you a higher spring constant for a given plunger draw, whereas the second method takes the given plunger draw and shifts the starting energy state to a higher one.

Both of them should give an increase in power, which doesn't necessarily contribute to increased range, but will under other conditions (like a real barrel )

I have a Doit Best store around me, but was unable to find any compression springs during my recent tour of the store. Perhaps it was their bad selection, or maybe they just ran out, I don't know. For future reference, what general area of the store did you find your springs in?
