If your resolution isn't listed, pick the one that's closest.

This will help me with future site design projects.

I run 2560x1024 (dual 18" LCD) which gives me a slightly different perspective on the web.

I'm running 1152x864 on this crappy ass 17" monitor. I usually run games at 1024x768 though. 800x600 if it's a demanding game.

[EDIT] I guess I'll throw my comp specs in here too.

Asus A7N8X nForce2
AMD Athlon XP 2100+ @ 1.73GHz
512 MB ram
80GB HD
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro OC'ed, running at 9700 Pro level
All packed into an Antec Super Lanboy

I have a shitty 17" CRT fishbowl, at 1024*768*32@85Hz.
I play most of my games at this res, but, like spectre, I'm forced to lower my res in some of the newer games; XP1600+ @ 1.55ghz with a ti 4200 just doesn't cut it any more....mmmm...upgrade....

Most of the computers I view this site on have a screen resolution of 1024x768.

Obligatory demonstration of geekhood (and my department's budget):

(the browser is at roughly 1024x768, Photoshop is at 1280x1024 in my other monitor)

Dual monitor, but the bigger of the two, which I view my browser in is 1280x960. I really only use the other one for the gAIM client and all the tool bars and palettes for PSP, Illusrator, and macromedia. Oh, and the matrix animated desktop. Can't forget that.

My...fucking...God... Cx, who needs a screen that...LARGE?

Me.

I don't exactly use it for gaming.

On a typical day I'll have Outlook, InfoMaker, and Term Services open in the left display and several IE windows, the data map for the database I support, Winamp, and Trillian open in the right display.

To use InfoMaker (reporting tool) I need to constantly refer to the data map. In Term Services I'm usually configuring servers on my network and am constantly checking online docs. Much less taskbar/alt-tab shuffle.

I work much faster, my boss is happy.

I was at a site and they were running tripple apple cinema displays, and using every last pixel of them too. They were running brain wave monitoring software.

Damn. Three fucking Cinema displays? The 20" ones? EVERY FUCKING LAST PIXEL?!
I just use the 12" screen on my iBook at it's highest resolution setting, 10248 x 768. I try to use every inch of it with iTunes, Safari, and whatever school work I'm doing, but it hardly ever happens.

Well they had 256 channels of data that they wanted to observe at the same time, you need lots of space to do this. And yes those are the big 20 inchers, I get all mushy inside each time I take one out of a box.

I run dual 17" CRTs (one is older and ok, my main is just about the nicest 17" CRT you can buy), both at 1280x1024. Being the film major and all, dual screens is mandatory for me with all the editing and sound design I do. It also enables me to have Outlook, browser, 2 chat clients, winamp and task manager all open at the same time and not overlapping each other at all.

Which pleases me.

Zmatrix is a great matrix code animated backround. Works great with dual monitors, and doubles as a screen saver.

Julie gets me a 3 month membership to Digital Blasphemy every year or two. They have some super-sweet wide format and dual monitor rendered wallpapers. There are usually a dozen or so free wallpapers on the site - though I don't know if any of the 2560x1024 images are in the free gallery.

Meh, I'm not impressed by their renders... Never really have been, either. I'm more into minimalist type backgrounds, not cheap-looking renders.
