I my brother and I bought the 2-player HYPERFIRE set today at Target, and we split up the guns. I got the
green Eliminator and green DTB. His orange DTB shot 30ft stock, and mine only shot ~10ft stock, so I decided to
open mine up and take out the air restrictors. I took them out as shown here. I also replaced the spring with a NF spring. I'm still only getting 10 to 15ft outta it with stock barrels and taggers. I've also tried the search tool with little success.
Any help?

Are all the seals good? Check the o-ring, you may have just got a defect or a terrible seal between the turret and the plunger head(Don't know the name)?

As far as I can tell from Pics of DTB internals, there isn't an o-ring between the turret and the "plunger head". That seem to be the place that would most likely have a leak. I can't tell how strong the seal is there, though, it seem to be touching the turret lightly.

I wasn't saying there was a oring where the turret meets the other place, I was saying the oring inside the plunger tube may not have a good seal.

Fair enough. I opened it up again to check, and the O-ring has a VERY good seal.

Did you replace or add the NF spring?

If you replaced it, put the original spring back in there. The same thing happened to me.

If you see me in the trading forum, I am most likely posting for friends. They are very into trading/buying/selling guns. Me, not so much.

I replaced the spring. How did you combine the two springs on the plunger? They are very different, and the DTB spring doesn't really fit in the NF spring.

Nevermind... I got it. Was a pain in the butt though.

I would return it, tell them it was defective. I had something similiar happen the first time I got a maverick, the darts would barely get out of the turret. It ended up being the seal, but I was unable to fully fix it, so I just returned it, and got a new working one.

I have already scarred it. I probably wouldn't be able to return it.

Now that I have added the original spring back on, I am no longer able to cock it. The springs now take up too much room in the plunger for it to compress enough for it to catch.

DrSpaceman, why would it need the spring back on anyway? Is it powerful enough to give it 20 ft more range?

I meant only the original spring. Put only the DTB spring in and the gun will be better.

Odd, I know, but it works.

My friend returned a sawed off double shot after he decided the gun wasn't worth it. A lot of employees don't really care at all. Another person I know used to buy BBB's from various stores, pull out the parts he needed for other mods, screw it back together, and then return them as defective. Not exactly a morally correct technique, but eh. Anyways, unless you have a good idea how to fix it, I would return it.

I put it all back together, and fired off 20 shots, with an average of 15ft. My unmodded Eliminator averages 20ft. Effeminate FAIL. Still don't know why its sucking.

To wisp:
I really don't want to return the set. What are the chances of getting more crappy guns in THAT set? I get defective guns 25% of the time. Thats why I stopped NERFing before. AT2Ks that don't work. Mavericks that don't work. AT3Ks that don't work... RF20s that don't work. It just pisses me off... I'd rather steal my brothers and cannibalize mine for parts...

That's really odd.

I did the same thing and when I had only the DTB spring in my gun worked great.

How did yours shoot stock? 15ft? You added the NF spring and it didn't help, then put the original spring back and it shot normal (~35ft)?

Mine shot about 20 feet stock. I replaced the spring with an Nf and it sucked. I then put only the DTB spring in and it went about 30 feet or so.

I usually test my guns out in my car or in the parking lot after I buy them, so I can return them immediately if they don't work. I'm not familiar with the internals of a dtb, but what I usually do to find out where the problem is/isn't, I take out the turret, and feel how much air is coming out if I dry fire the gun. If a good amount of air is coming directly from the plunger, then it's probably something with the turret, or how tight the seal is with the turret.

Good idea. I'll try next time.

I'm going to test all the seals, but it may have to wait til tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Something must've been defective with the gun when you bought it, because I got a stock one recently and it shot 25ft.
