On Wednesday afternoon my school had a "Medieval Faire." Everyone needed a booth, so RVMVTV and I used Nerf BBBs for "target practice." One kid decided to shove the cocked gun forward without pulling the trigger, and somehow succeeded. Upon opening the gun, the catch (which was undamaged) was fine, but the catch spring was mysteriously gome. I know that sounds stupid, but neither me nor RV could see it in the gun. No it did not shoot out as I was putting my face in the opening. Thanks for reading.

It probably slipped out when he managed to get it forward.

I thought that as well, but how did it disappear from the gun?

That's why you don't trust school kids idiots with nerf guns.
So could you use it as a "blast fire" type gun now?

*edit*-sorry I didn't read the first post right.

It probably slipped out the back on to the ground at the place you were at.

Is it possible that the catch spring wasn't there in the first place? Just a guess, as I have had nerf guns function without them in the past.

As the other witness, I will convey the facts/ thoughts.

It probably slipped out the back on to the ground at the place you were at.

If that was so, we would have found it when we cleaned up half an hour later.

That wouldn't explain the fact that it just wasn't priming. No parts were damaged at all, and were hardly used beforehand.

Is the shell not staying back or is the plunger rod catch not re-engaging when you push it forward? If it's the shell, check the catch for the shell (it's the little orange pin that sticks out near the back of the front half) for wear and springs and check the catch face on the shell for wear. If it's the plunger rod catch, just replace the spring with one from a clicky pen.

It probably wedged into the plunger tube. I mean inside, with the spring. It shot forward, and bounced into it. Or under the trigger, I have had both happen.

Just replace the shell catch spring with an AR spring, I lost both of mine and it works perfectly.
