Like the topic says, i have a question about my balls, rather i have a question about my nerf foam balls for my modified Motorized Ballzooka. The question is i have bought about 30 green balls and i picked up about 20 yellow balls off ebay for cheap and the yellow balls feel softer, is this the actual case or is it my imagination?

Are there any differences in the two color balls other than color?

i know it might be just my imagination but the green ones feel firmer.

Also, are there any alternatives to buying nerf balls? Possibly something a little heavier?

Take a few minutes and search for ball related threads, and you will find all of the info that has been posted so far. I have had pretty good luck using the (slightly smaller) yellow practice golf balls from Target They don't work very well in most stock ballguns, but they work great in the Motorized Ballzooka. You are definitely correct about the green balls though. They are much firmer than anything else. Also, stock Nerf balls have a mass of about 5 grams. The Target balls are about 12 grams.

The yellow balls are also slightly smaller in diameter than the green ones.

Not exactly what I was expecting when I saw this thread, but no, you are not imagining, the yellow balls are softer.

thanks for the replies, i know my post count is low but i did search and didnt find what i was looking for, also most of the ball related topics were over a year ago and i did'nt want to go dredging up old topics that have long since died.

I have heard that practice golf balls work but maybe the ones i bought were the wrong size because they just kind of shot about 10 feet and dropped .

what brand of practice golf balls work and could you post a pic of your balls for me -_-

nerf ones only please.

Improve your capitalization, punctuation, and spelling usage as outline in the board rules.

Age of the topic doesn't change how the balls fit inside different blasters.

I believe your yellow balls are not only softer than your green balls, they are slightly smaller as well.

Sometimes I get in too big of a rush and punctuation is the last of my concerns especially if my idea is accurately recieved.

Now I'm sure in your 3500 something post, your spelling and grammar has been most accurate and you probally felt no need to offer any help other than spelling or gramatical.

I do however take you advise into consideration and will file it with rest of the things that people have said to me and have not mattered.

Now that i have corrected my spelling and punctuation, can i get some help with my ball issure?
What are alternatives, ie the foam golf balls, the type that actually works?
I plan on goingto target tomorrow and see what they have, i went to Wal-mart and their selection was'nt much of one.
I also went to Dick's sporting goods and the ones that they had were too small to be properly ejected from the MBZ.

Here is what it looks like;

Now you're just being snarky.
Yes I take pride in fixing any mistakes in my posts as quickly as possible. Feel free to check my post history from back to front.
And it's only been in the past week that I have been asked to fill the role of new member nanny. I definitely don't enjoy it and it's nowhere near as tedious as the process I have gone through to manually validate your account and others.

Your post quality still isn't up to snuff due to your inability to capitalize everything properly (such as the pronoun "I") but atleast you are improving. If you would like to continue having the ability to make posts you'll work harder from now on. I don't enjoy issuing people these warnings, and this is your last one. I'm more lenient when the subject of the warning isn't being such an asshole about the suggestion.

As for your question, all available input that's applicable has been offered.

Now, why would your ruin that beautiful baster like that? At some point, I will finish writing up my modification of my MBZ, which you'll probably find helpful. I have a little more encouragement now that someone might actually use the info.

Well I did'nt think I had ruined it but to each his own. Aside from the paint it can be undone but I dont think I will because I like the way it is now. I was'nt too found of the purple, orange, silver, and neon green color scheme.

Now as far as me being able to continue to post due to a few non-capitalized I's here or there, i personally think you need to get over that, its not like the failure on my part to use proper capital letters will stop anyone from understanding my post or that my grammar is so bad that comprehention is not possible. Is this forum so boring that one has to check for grammarical errors as a source of entertainment?

I thought that I was really going to enjoy reading as well as posting ideas on this forum but I had no idea that I was being graded not only on my content but the way it is being presented as well.

Draconis:
Are you really just going to leave me in suspense like that? You tell me you have such wonderful plans to modify you MBZ and then not give me a clue as to what it may be! That is just mean. :D

I would appreciate the write up, this is actually my favorite gun. I know alot of people think ball guns suck and are inaccurate but I just love this thing.
I did'nt know anyone else had a interest in these guns besides myself, when i was looking at which nerf gun i wanted and I was googleing around I found a picture of this and i decided that was the one i wanted, i did'nt know how hard it was going to be to aquire one.

Now for the bad news, if you think i ruined this one you'll probally be horrified to find out I have two that i did the same thing to.

I am kind of found of the flat black scheme of things. Ihave modified Lanard DS20, Tommy20, Quickload Blaster, and two MBZ's all painted black.

Well anything would make Lanard's fugly colorschemes look better, but that's aside from the point. Considering that this thread is already up, I too am wondering something about those practice golf balls. I see them both smooth and dimpled, and the dimpled ones are more common. Considering that dimpled golf balls are known to be more accurate and fly further in golf, I was wondering if that worked for firing them from nerf guns as well. While I'm sure that's fine for the buzzsaw, I wonder about guns that fire based on creating an air seal like the reactor. Would they get a good enough seal to fire?

A second thimg I'm wondering about, is if someone can suggest the best bouncing balls. The current gen green balls only get one good bounce before going dead, and I was interested in something that would wreak a bit more havoc indoors. Whipping a superball into the room is no longer allowed after introducing my friends to a game called "Super Bastard Ball." But replicating the near grenade like effect on enclosed rooms is my goal.

The onesI tried were Orange in color and were slightly dimpled. They also were larger than actual golf balls but they did'nt shoot far at all. From what i have read, they are supose to work but I guess i either got the wrong ones or someone posted up some bad information. I really would like to see a picture of any type of alternative foam balls

They operate adequately in The buzzsaw, but work much better if the flywheel is modified to grip them better. They don't fire worth a damn from STOCK blasters like the Reactor or Ballzooka.

Where did you find these balls of which you speak? I'll take pictures of what I have.

Well the reactor isn't quite stock. It's been shortened to reduce dead space, and had ARs removed and is integrated with something else. (not quite finished yet, and yes the shortening does help) But since the gun relies on creating a seal to build up pressure, I'm assuming you mean that dimpled practice golf balls don't work in it.

That's just asking for angry parents.

No parents to be found here, I live alone.

Thanks for the info though. Guess i can save my money on those at least.

That is exactly the problem. The dimpled balls work just fine if you are using a high powered blaster (like a Roto-Rocket or Homemade), though best if you squish them inside a tight pipe and have a smooth barrel. It's very much like using big darts, but squishing them inside a 17/32" brass stub, which is nested in a larger 9/16" barrel.

For some reason, even the soft lip of the Reactor doesn't make enough of a seal to project the dimpled balls. I am still working on it though.

Just FYI, I ordered a set of the yellow nerf balls for my MBZ and thought that since they were nerf made they would work fine, but I was wrong, they work, just not well. These balls do not fly as straight or as far as the green balls.
