1. Why do people make their darts 1 1/2 inches long?
2. What is the performance differences between split shot sinkers and bb's (the kind that you use for a bb gun)
3. What is the best mod for a Ratchet Blast, but I don't want to single barrel it.

1. Many don't. I make mine 2.5" and they do quite well in all the guns I typically use. These include brass or PETG modded SSII, LnL, AT3k, and EaB. I tried 1.5" darts in my brass modded SM1500 and they didn't do as well as 2.5" darts so I'm not changing. Experiment with a few sizes to see what works for your guns.1. Why do people make their darts 1 1/2 inches long?
2. What is the performance differences between split shot sinkers and bb's (the kind that you use for a bb gun)
2. The weight difference between 3/0 split shot and bbs is enormous. At least one order of magnitude. Darts weighted with bbs will not fly accurately out of any mid to high power guns unless you drill the dart very thoroughly and achieve front-weighting that way.

I've heard about people stretching their guns springs and adding new springs, so I tried it on 2 guns and the catch device doesn't catch the plunger, am I stretching the spring to much or do I need a heaver catch spring?

If the catch won't hold, you're stretching your springs too much. The catch spring doesn't hold the catch in place, it merely moves it there. In general, you should avoid stretching your springs because it will dramatically shorten their useful life. When purchasing a replacement spring (I use OSH) try for one that's about the same length, slightly heavier wire, and fewer coils. You want a spring with the same compressed and extended dimensions but a 50-100% increase in force.

Find yourself some PVC thread adaptors and hot glue them in the barrels of the Ratchet Blast.3. What is the best mod for a Ratchet Blast, but I don't want to single barrel it.

A) you always seem to flame evil evil evil n00bs, and i must say that this is one of the best first timers to nerf i have ever seen. Although i cand be bothered checkin whether he belongs to NHQ or other such forums, i reckon this guy deserves the "best n00b in the history of nerf" medal... no seriously, i no im rambling, this guy is the ultimate, thanks for quelling the need to say something stupid and use AIM speak...
As these guys have said, use what feels right, even though different guns will require varying lengths...

He acted like a vet from the start, posting relevent material, not using AIM-Speak, and contributing to these forums.
I think he's the one that deserves it the most, out of our recent members.
By the way, in this case it's newb, not n00b.

It also helps that I'm older than most people on the site and generally avoid getting into arguments on silly issues.
Edit: Thank you by the way. One last point, I try to treat people with respect when I post, even if they say something really stupid or obvious. I might laugh at them from the privacy afforded sitting in front of my computer, but tearing someone a new one is usually counter productive.
