I cpvc'd my rapid fire 20 recently, and so I put the turret to good use...

The nite finder is a first gen, AR is removed, a crossfire spring has been added, and there is a better plunger seal. I also couplered it. The nite finder was originally from a manta mod, so that's why half of the handle is cut off. The turret is held in place by legos, tooth picks, and lots of hot glue. It's a little sketchy but it works. I used felt and an O-ring to get the best plunger to turret seal. The turret holds 20 darts, but the barrel of the gun only connects to the outer 10, so it's really only a 10 shot turret. You can place darts in the inner 10 barrels and when you have shot the outer 10, reload with the inner darts. This mod GREATLY increases the rate of fire of your nite finder. The ranges are high 50's with stefans. If I could get a perfect turret seal I think I could get it closer to 60, but it's just so damn hard to get a good seal. I call it the mini doomsayer because it's like a doomsayer in the fact that it has a big turret, and it is rear loading. Problem is, the turret must be manually rotated, so a doomsayer is still a MUCH better alternative. However, this is easily my best pistol.
THis is my first mod that I have posted, and I am somewhat new here, so please don't completely bash my mod.

What? Who the fuck cares if its his first mod or not?

On topic: I like the idea, but..it isn't really practical in my own opinion. You should try to turret something like the BBB, which can get much better ranges. It just makes NF too big for my taste.

I can see it useful in a zombie game or something, but who cares? It's damn cool!

The Doomsayer is a modification that FA42 did to the RFDG, it is NOT a catchall name for whatever "Attach a turret to a gun" mod that people do.

Calling your shitpiece a "Mini Doomsayer" is not only insulting to the incredible amount of care and work FA24 puts into his mods, it's also just downright moronic.

Try for a little creativity in naming next time, but this mod doesn't deserve a name, a name is only given to a mod that has taken the next step above the common mundanity.

I daresay that if you actually put some paint on that thing and maybe made it look a little less like something my cat threw up, it might deserve a name.

I'm a little confused here. How is re-barreling a RFSG and giving it various reinforcements "taking the next step." If I was one of the first to re-barrel some other gun and put a skull on it, would I get praised to no end about it? No, I wouldn't. I think it has a lot more to do with status that has been previously obtained by the modder. I'm not saying FA did a bad job on his RFSG, I'm just saying that the enormous amounts of praise for that gun probably had more to do with his success with previous modifications, which some of were definitely deserving of the praise he got for them. Basically, don't take this the wrong way, it's just I'm not for judging the awesomeness of a mod based on the modder themselves.

I think it was really that Angel was the first one to mod it like that, and it was/is a damn good gun, so naturaly, the community appealed to it and praised the modder. He already was a good modder, so he got praised even more. But, let's say I made it. I might get even more praise because I'm new, not an already experienced and respected nerfer.

Drew, that nitefinder is not really that great. Sure, it's got a lot of shots, but it's just...bleh.
It would probably be better off with a regular speedloader, with all you've done to it.

Everything I've just posted is most likely worthless, but who cares.

That is not true, at all. I have seen so many people come out with things that are really awesome, and they don't get half the praise they deserve. Split comes to mind here. A springer pistol that tags 150 feet, and people start complaining about bogus ranges, I mean come the fuck on!

Edit: I'm just gonna take this to PM's after this post. I've been getting into a few too many lengthy arguments on the boards, and I'm not sure anyone's liking it.

Awesome gun, and a great mod too!

For a suggestion to refinement, I recommend changing the turret seal from felt and an O-ring to some sort of rubber washer configuration. Good luck with any refinements you make!

Well I don't care what anyone else says I think its pretty cool. Pistols can be alot of fun too and I say this is a pretty cool way to mod it. Now if you could get it to roate while arming it that would be something crazy.

Crooked: Did you see that guy who singled a doomsayer?

Pearson: Why would you single a doomsayer? Thats like taking a Ferarri and putting family seating in it.

That thing looks really beastly! Does the rf20 turret add a lot of weight to the front of the gun? Also the seal will need to be increased, because you could lose a lot of range if it leaks.

I have to say that the basic idea seems cool, but the execution is just not there. I am not saying I could do any better, but the thing has some promise with better planning and some more refinement to the design. I DO have to agree with Hereticorp as far as the name goes though, I think you need to respect someone elses work/creativity--using the same/similar name does not do that. This is your gun--the Doomsayer was FA_24's, so come up with a name for YOUR gun and respect the originality of another member. Thats my opinion anyway.....we all know what opinions are like, right?

I kinda like it. Don't get me wrong though, the whole "Doomsayer" crap is starting to piss me off though. I think people often forget that we're talking about toys here. I.E. anything you produce does not need some "badass" sounding name in front of it. [/rant] On the plus side, it gets decent ranges for what you've done so far. I'd suggest you cut your CPVC straighter, or if you completely fail at that, sand it down. For a zombies game, this would strike fear into the ranks of the undead. Now all you will have to do is create an auto-rotation mechanism. Good work so far.

We're not discouraging people from joining a Nerf forum, we're discouraging them from joining this forum. It's an important distinction because, frankly, we don't give a shit. The Haven was created to escape the idiotic masses, now they're all here. -cxwq

In response to the whole "you copied the name, come up with something more origanal" general rant, I just have to say, I'm a noob and I thought it was cool, like a pistol version of the doomsayer. If you guys have a problem with that, get over it. I can call it whatever the hell I want to.

I'm probably not gonna do that, just because I am satisfyed with it the way it is.

also, to all you people saying I should try and get it to auto rotate, that would be near impossible. The turret, when full of 20 darts, weights quite a bit, and would need a pretty powerful rotating mech. I don't think I could design one to fit into the spare room in the shell were the laser light normally goes, so it's probably not gonna happen. If any of you adventurus modders want to give it try, it's probably a good, weekend job.
