When teams are announced later this week you may be on my team. If you are, and you show up with some untested contraption, you will be very sorry. Bring a reliable weapon. There will be no loaners. Bring reliable and sufficient darts; none will be for sale.

Bring what you like, but you will not necessarily be anywhere near your equipment, and running to get another gun could be the difference between your team achieving an objective or failing. Bringing the raider won't hurt. Trying to go without any range for long periods of time may. You'll need to be very mobile and carrying both won't be a feasible option. Regardless, I'm not too worried. You'll see the situation when you get there.

Well, I wanted to bring you a fairly final team roster today, but I have a few details to work out with my bitter(sweet) rival and opposing Captain, Langley.

So, instead I'm going to give you a peak at the rules and objectives for segment 1 of this war:

Teams: 2
Hitpoints: 2
Respawns: Infinite from any of your team's flagstands with a flag in it (ie. in a territory your team occupies).
Territories: 3
Scoring hits: Players will carry ribbons (flagging tape in one of two colors) equal in number to the hitpoints they possess. When a round begins players will be wearing ribbons equal to the number of hits they possess (you start the first round wearing 2 ribbons). Each time a player takes a hit a single ribbon will be removed so that he is still wearing ribbons equal to the number of hits he possesses. When a player is dead or respawning no ribbons should be worn. Hopefully this makes it simpler to tell who's dead, who's not, and makes it a little more obvious when someone is bullshitting hitpoints.


Round #1: Occupation, will run for exactly 1 hour, and will be timed. You will start the round in your territory, and you must return to the common spawn aread at the end. Anyone not i nthe common area by the timed start of the next round will be disqualified from play for that round.

The Basics: At the beginning of this round each team will possess one of the three territories, and the third will be unclaimed. In each territory there will be a flag station for either team, and a flag planted in the station of the occupying team. The goal will be to end this round with as many territories in your team's posession as possible.

Why capture: Any territory your team captures becomes a spawnpoint for your team, which will be incredibly useful as the day progresses.

How to Capture: To occupy a territory the territory's flag must be in your team's flag station. If the flag is in the other team's station you must capture it and return it to your station. To capture a flag a member of the capturing team must simply contact the flag, start the attached timer, and remain within arm's reach of the flag until the timer hits 3 minutes. If the person who started the timer is shot before the time expires, the timer must be reset. Once the timer is complete the flag can be removed from the station. Once the flag is placed into the capturing team's station, the territory is won. If the flag bearer is shot while transporting the flag, the flag is dropped and can be picked up by anyone. Anyone carrying the flag must move as directly as possible towards their own flag station. The Flag may not be hidden or taken on a detour. The territory may be recaptured limitlessly until the round is over.


This rule set is still open to slight alterations, but you get the basic idea. We'll divulge the rules for the following 3 rounds before each round takes place. They all flow, we feel, really naturally from this and culminate in a Deathmatch for all the marbles.

Also, since the spawn points are such a big focus in these rounds, what are the rules concerning clearing and spawn camping? If you have taken a hit, but not exhausted all your hitpoints, counting in and clearing are the usual rules, 20 second count in, and you'll have to make way for the living. If you are respawning (your 2 hp have been exhausted), you must respawn at the common spawn point or at a flag in one of your flag stands (denoting a territory you occupy). If the timer (stop watch) is running because someone is trying to capture the flag in your flag stand, you won't be able to respawn there. You'll have to spawn at either the flag in another territory you posess, or the common spawnpoint, which is fairly central. If the opposition is camping your flag, or is anywhere in the vicinity for that matter, but has not started the stop watch, feel free to spawn in at your stand and shoot them point blank. They probably deserve it. We'll give a walkthrough explanation at one of the flagstands to clarify. As far as a team camping a spawn point, it shouldn't really be an issue. There's no benefit to racking up kills in the first round aside from making it easier to achieve captures. If they're that close to your stand and you're dead, they won't be camping, they'll be capturing. It sounds a lot more complicated than it is.

The flag stand is just 1" pvc hammered into the ground, into which the 1/2" pvc flag fits. Each territory has 1 flag, and 2 stands (each stand is marked with the color of one of the teams). When the flag is in the flagstand bearing your color, the territory is yours and you can spawn at that flagstand. If the flag is not in YOUR flagstand, you cannot spawn in that territory. If a territory is in flux (the flag is in neither stand), no one can spawn in that territory. If it is still in neither stand when the round ends, it will revert to the most recently occupied stand. Again, the mechanic is pretty simple, but the words make it seem less so.

Alright, I want to give people an idea of what the teams will look like at least a few days out. These are ONLY comprised of people from the definite list. Anybody else who shows up will be slotted to a team on Saturday. These teams almost deffinitely will see some tweaking, and we may have to break some people up from their "clans" if the numbers don't work out.

Ok, well those teams are out of the question, hehe. Guys, just try to get there between 10 and 10:30 so we can get an accurate headcount and fill teams out. A lot of this is gonna be fluid throughout the day. It's the first time we've thrown something like this so be ready to change things up on the fly. We'll make sure you get to shoot each other adequately.
