Hey, I recently modded my Nerf Recon CS-6 and it worked well for awhile then part of it broke on the slider. The orange end piece popped off and the gun will not shoot without it. I tried super gluing the piece back on and model gluing it. Both only worked for about 10 shots before it popped off again. Refer to the pictures below to see what piece I am talking about if you are confused, I am not sure what its called so I named it the slider

If you have any suggestions about how I could fix it, that would be great. If you know of something I can use to replace the piece that works too. Thanks for reading!

The little orange circle piece in the first picture is the piece that popped off of the end that needs to be put back on in order for the gun to operate.

Thanks for looking.

Zap a gap glue will fix anything, or you could fill in the void with hot glue or epoxy putty.

so are you saying to hot glue the piece back on
-or-
to fill the end of the tube with putty?

use plumbers goop to glue the piece back on, don't use hot glue. I highly suggest waiting a day or so before putting it back together, you will want to make sure that the glue will have completely cured before doing anything with the gun.

Are you sure plumbers goop will work better than model glue or super glue? I was thinking about model gluing it back on then putting tape on the outside to ensure that it says in tact.

Unlike super glue, goop does not become brittle and break easily. Like you said, putting tape around it would be a good idea. I recommend e-tape for that.

My suggestion, buy a new one. I could supply you with an entire new recon if you'd like. If you'd just prefer that part though, maybe we can work something out. PM me.

What mods have been done to the gun? There may be too much stress on the gun, so the part keeps breaking. you may need to reduce the strength of the spring (assuming you added a new one) or decrease something else for the gun to be able to stay fixed.

I agree with Diamond. If I were you, I would buy a new one so at least you would have spare parts. I don't know what they cost near you, but here, it would be easier just to get a new one.

Or you could forget it and sell it for parts. There's always someone who needs a new boltsled or some other part...

I had the exact same problem, though mine never bothered me when darts were fired, mine broke as a direct result of my little brother dry-firing the gun.

I fixed mine though a needlessly involved process of pinning the plungercap back on to the tube, Took a dremel, grabbed a 0.5mm Drill bit, and carefully drilled 4 holes around the edge of the cap going down into the wall of the plunger tube at a slight angle, so when the pins were put in, they were less resistant to pulling back out

Then gooped the whole inside edge and outside with play hobby Superglue, the kind that nearly dissolves some plastics, and squeezed the cap and tube together again. While it was drying I took some very small pieces of wire, 0.5mm, actually, and gently tapped the pieces down into the holes, and bent the ends over the outside of the hole.

This way, the holes and the rim were completely glued together (nearly fused thanks to the glue), and I've now managed to get another 4 months and counting out of the same tube.

It requires a little bit of precision, but not alot. Just patience =)

Recons cost a small mint in Australia, so I try not to replace parts or buy new items if it can be avoided.... It's really only $50 AUS, but thats more than Im willing to throw out of pocket each time something bungs up =)

Try my method, if you need a visual explanation at all, just ask =)

And sorry for not helping your deal Diamond =) Hehe

I got a new piece from diamond and I fixed my gun so it shoots now, but I have run into another problem. When I load the clip and stick it in the gun I can cock it once and shoot it but after that the gun will not cock again. Also when I put the clip in it will not come out unless I take the gun apart and pull the clip off. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

And one other thing not relating to my recon, is the nerf eliminator IX-1 the same or better than a nerf attack unit?

It sounds like you've put your plunger tube in upside down. It's designed with the small square block on the bottom of the plunger tube. That way when the tube is forward, it pushes down the lock and allows the slide to move back. This prevents double loading. Similarly, the clip lock will only disengage when the bolt sled is back. You can't pull the clip out when the bolt is forward. So if you're bolt is stuck forward, the upside-down plunger tube could be causing both problems.

$50 in aus? 20 in usa.

The Wal-Mart where I live sells them for $14.99.

Thanks King that worked, I now feel stupid because I couldn't fix it by myself... thank you though.

Ok, I have yet another question about my recon. For painting it what is the best way to do that if I want to paint the whole thing, can I just spray paint it as is, or do I need to take it apart and remove the internals? Thanks to whoever has an answer. :P

For a cleaner look, I would take the internals out (including the trigger). And DON'T skip adding primer.

My Recon is the only gun that I have never taken the internals out of, is it hard to put them back in? Also, when I paint I painted my Nite Finder I did not use primer I just used Krylon Fusion paint which is really good for plastic. I have not had any trouble with the paint coming off and it looks very nice.

The internals are not very hard to get back into the gun. Just skip re-adding the screws holding the slide to the case (it makes it a lot easier to get the gun back together). So Krylon Fusion works pretty well?

Thanks. Yes, I think Krylon Fusion works very well, I used two coats and it looked really good and I have not had any problems with it wearing off. Krylon Fusion also works really well on PVC parts, my brother made a PVC t-shirt cannon and painted it with Krylon Fusion and the paint looks brand new. Do i need to take the barrel apart to paint it?

I would, if I were you. It makes the whole paint job look better, overall.
