Today i was having a nerf war around my house, and my friends little brother got shot in the eye while he was taking a brake and had his eye protection off. He had to go to the hospital, and his eye is extreamly swolen, and he must stay in bed for a week and not move his eye.
My parents and his parents are extreamly mad, and my parents said i can never nerf agian, and they are going to throw out all my guns. The thing is that it wasnt even me who shot him, it was my friend, who thought it would be funny to shoot him in the stomach, but missed and hit his eye.

now i dont know wat to do.

my guess is that you try to sit down and talk this out with your parents. point out to them that if they're even semi reasonable human beings they will sit down and at least sit down and hear out your story. After all it wasn't you who shot the kid, it wasn't even you who wanted to shoot him, and you wouldn't do something that stupid. Not to mention if they throw out those guns they may be throwing out things you either A. Worked hard on to mod B. Worked hard to save up for or C. Things that they may have given to you and are therefore wasting their own money even though you did nothing, and your only association with said crime was that you were there. That's like throwing a guy into jail when he had a gun at a gas station robbery. He may have been there but he didn't do it and he was only carrying a gun because it was his Constitutional right to. But without getting into the whole Right To Bear Arms (not saying it's in the Constitution that you have the right to own a Nerf gun this is just an analogy). My point is if their going to penalize you simply for being there then that's just idiotic. Sure they may be mad at the fact that you didn't stop your friend that's another story. There's the fact that you didn't pull the trigger and there's also the fact that you might not have been able to stop him, or even that you didn't know he was going to shoot the other guy when he didn't have protection. Anyway my overall point is that they're punishing you over something you had little to no control over. Try reasoning with them using some of the above arguements. Also try and think up some other reasons because this is all i can think of for now.

That does suck. There's always one jackass who will do that. I can see it being fine to fool around with out any glasses with unmodded nerf guns, but you ALWAYS have to be wearing eye protection when your fooling around with some high powered guns and darts with hot glue at the end. Good luck with your parents, it's not your fault.

Hah! That's what I was thinking...

Too bad about the accident. Speaking as a parent, it's going to be awfully tough to convince them to let you play after a kid went to the hospital.

Yea im real depressed right now :(

The problems are that they were all my guns, so my parents feel responsable,

and also, even if i could convince my parents to let me nerf again (which i probably wont be able to do) all my other friends are also banned from nerfing, so i would have no one to nerf with.

The thing is, none of our parents really liked nerf to begin with, so they were just looking for an excuse to make us stop, and they jumped on this oppurtunity :(

Now that sucks, but it does explain more. 1.) Your friends probably don't have much respect for the rules and power of your guns. It's always likely that they will nerf totally different then you just because you have experience in nerf and now how to properly have fun. 2.) It's gonna be three times as hard to convince your parents to let you nerf since all the guns were yours.

Just shoot your brother in the eye with a real gun. Nerf will look good by comparison.

The difference is that you need a license for using a real pistol. This kid probably needed a training course in how to use a modded Nerf weapon. Speaking of which, out of morbid curiosity, what blaster and type of dart was it?

I thought this was significant until I bought my Glock.

Imagine my surprise when all that was required for purchasing a handgun was a little multiple-choice test. Sample question:

<diagram of rifle with line pointing towards the barrel>

The line indicates the:

A - Stock
B - Trigger
C - Safety
D - Barrel

Not only that, you are allowed to miss about 20% of the questions and still pass. If you fail, they give you the answer sheet, you review it, and they retest you.

This is in California where we supposedly have some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation.

They said I missed one question but they wouldn't tell me which one it was so I don't believe them. The person reviewing my test had an IQ of about 30.

You're screwed. Trust me, there's no way you can ever nerf again. Parents are like that. Sell your guns rather than throwing them away.

Naw, no reason to stop nerfing beause of someone elses stupidity...

Something simlar happened to me...I shot my brothers tooth out with a nerf gun. My parents were throwing out my guns so I grabbed the ones they were holding, and locked all my guns and ammo in my room. I then went on strike till they stopped overreacting, and Im still here today. What works really well against parents(sorry Cx and Piney) just refuse. What are they going to do? Punish you, you just live in your own little world till their anger subsides, and you relieve them of their "punishment" and you get to keep your nerf guns. If my parents banned my from nerfing, but let me kep my guns, I honestly wouldnt be that depressed. I would keep modding and shooting walls...If that doesnt work, try and save one of your fovorite guns and some ammo and hid'em...

Some almost-good advice from your friendly neighborhood mailman.

Jesus H. Christ on a fence post.

Well yeah, I was supposed to nerf with you guys this weekend....Oh well, so much for that. That blows Monkey balls. Just goes to show you not to fuck around even with toy guns. I know your parents were a little hesitant about me coming up, so perhaps it's for the best.

God damn, that sounds pretty severe. I'm only glad I'm not going to nerf with this kid who seems to shot like a storm trooper. Only a stormtrooper would have just got the idea, run away, and then whacked his head on a door. Oh well.

Well, when your 18, give me a call, I'll come nerf with you guys. Sorry to hear about your blaster exodus. If so, sell them, I know you've got some half decent guns.

Sorry man,

Talio.

That's funny. My father and I collect guns, and here in VA it's something like this:

Are you visiting from another country?

1) Yes
2) No

Do you have a valid passport?

1) Yes
2) No

Are you an illegal alien?

1) Yes
2) No

Are you a fugitive from justice?

1) Yes
2) No

The Governator must have drafted that gun test for you, Cx. <_<

Take your door off the hinges, put your TV, computer, and xbox in storage, and send you to oboe lessons every day after school.

Nice to know you call the shots in your household but it doesn't work like that for most kids. My son respects my authority and I let him do pretty much what he wants. Once in awhile he tests me because that's what 4-year-olds do. By the time he's your age he will have learned that the way to deal with things he doesn't like is to work with the system, talk to me about it, and explain his case. He will have learned a valuable lesson about life.

But hey, more power to ya.
