I'm a drummer who has had a very difficult time keeping a band together, so I came up with the idea of having a 'virtual band'.

Essentially you only know the band members from different websites Facebook, Myspace, etc...

You write music and send files to each other. With some emails and phone calls you could eventually put a song together. I thought that this might be a fun thing to do because you don't need to live in the same vicinity to play. You could have a basest in China and a Drummer in Africa.

The first time you meet each other would be at your first gig.

I was just curious if any of you or your friends were interested this this sort of a thing. Give me your feedback. If this is a dumb idea please let me know.

It's a cool idea, but to actually go to a gig would be a bit impractical. To fly/drive to meet would cost a lot of money, and as your FIRST gig you probably wouldn't make the money back. You could do a web cam sync like in that drummer movie. But any bit of lag would screw everything up, lol.

On the other hand, the guy who posted before me used the word 'fuck' a lot so he probably knows what he's talking about.

Do you realize that he's 26? He's probably a pretty decent drummer. I hope you can play guitar better than you can use grammar. I would be in for trying this, but I am getting my own band started already.

Thank you sooo much slowguitarman. My birthday is listed as 1982, its actually 1992. I'm 16. And I don't think age matters too much when playing this way.

I might be interested in playing guitar, might be pretty awesome!
I play a Pro series silver Warlock with new, godlike EMG pickups, which u can see in my profile picture (and to save some time, yes, that is a full spandex spider-man costume). i play both blues, and metal.
PM me if you are interested.

I don't think age matters either, but a 26 year old drummer would most likely be at a higher skill level than a 13 year old guitarist. I realize that this isn't always the case, but it is likely.

People have done it before, its not that unusual. Unfortunatelly, the life span of a band like this tends to be pretty short.

I'm already a rhythym guitarist in a band, but hell, if this is a strictly-for-fun thing where we just wanna have fun with it all (my other band tends to be more serious), and mabye write a few songs about Nerf, I could lend my little guitar talents here and there.

Keep in mind, I don't have a webcam, so I would have to comunitcate through strictly recordings, but I would be willing to do it.

EDIT: Keep in mind I do play a Rock/Metal style, so I would be best suited to those genres

I'm not the only one yippee. You are probably a lot better than me. Just getting started. Maybe a pan-flute band.

A real guitarist speaks with his guitar. If you play well your guitar will tell everyone that you're great, and if you suck, she tells everyone that too. She never lies.

Also, if anyone would like a little sample of my guitar, i recently recorded a song with my other band, so just pm me your email address, and ill send you a clip of it.
