An actual address would be nice. IMHO is more important that pictures.. Either way, Sterling is about an hour away from me, so I might be able to make it. It also depends on what day it is in June... put me on the roster, I plan to come if it works out.

I guess I should add that it is my church. There is a Jewish group that meets there on Saturday. The only way the other group would cause problems for us would be parking. They use the upstairs of the church, and we could use the lower, and gravel parking lots. I'll get an address up shortly, along with some pictures if I can take some when it is daylight. If I can get somemore people to come I'll start working out the details other than the date.

Heh, June 20th is about 5 months away. I'd like to see some pictures, too. At any rate, that location is only about 2 hours from me, so I can make it.

I took 2 pictures today, but it was getting dark so you can only see what was directly infront of me. If I get a chance to soon, I'll take some pictures during the daylight. The place has a gym that may be available. I'm currently working on securing the place.

I'm interested. I have a lot going on so I can't commit to an event 4 months away yet, but I'll try to attend if it does happen.

You have not yet been to a NIC war, so I'll scout the location sometime this week. I don't remember any of those surrounding areas or facilities being particularly war friendly though.

Well, this is on my calender. :D Exactly a week after my birthday too!

*Edit* Now that the date is definite, you should get this war added to the 2009 Nerf War Schedule.

The park is called "Briar Wood Park", I think. It is off of Sterling Boulovard. Which intersects Route 7.
It doesn't really matter if the location is war friendly or not. We'll still have fun!

Now that the date is definate, you should get this war added to the 2009 Nerf War Schedule.

I will.

It doesn't really matter if the location is war friendly or not.

Yes it does.
And the address you provided is for the Church, not Briar Patch Park. Briar Patch Park is not usable because it ALWAYS has kids playing on it as well as people playing Basketball.
I'll scope out the Church facilities. If they'll work as a war site and we can use them, fine.
If they won't then I would recommend Trailside Park (1050 Crestview Dr, Herndon, VA) because it's ALWAYS empty and has a good balance of obstacles and open area.

Parks and common areas in Virginia rarely work well as war sites because the naturally wooded areas are only good for breaking your ankle, and those are then bordered by huge open fields or briar patches.
Trailside is one of the few I've come across that doesn't have those problems, and is obscure enough that it's not constantly swarming with kids. It's grass with evenly spaced trees, picnic tables, a pavilion, one playground, and a bike trail.

I'm going to back up Slug on this one, especially if there are people driving potentially 2+ hours to attend, you should really look into documenting the prospects of this site with some kind of photography. It's a potential new venue, plus it'd be beneficial to everyone.

Tell me what you think Slug. I can't stress this enough, I don't have the church as a lock for location yet. I'll tell my mom that we may have to move the location to Trailside Park. I'll only move the location if you don't think the church is a good place. PM me your thoughts on the church.

Groove: The church is in Sterling, and I live in Leesburg. I know it's only about 20min. depending on traffic, but I haven't been there in a while where it has been daylight and I've had the time to take pictures. I will have them up as soon as possible, and if Slug gives the O.K. on the place. I'll try to take pictures on Sunday before I head into the building. One last note on the pictures, There is always a decent amount of cars there whenever I'm there so the pictures may have cars where we will be playing.

EDIT: The war has been confirmed. It is June 20. The exact location has to be finalized. My primary location, and my back-up location are about 5 minutes away from each other.

The date I'm trying to get is Saturday, June 20. Here is the address of the place.
21393 Potomac View Road, Sterling VA 20164.
Website: www.fbcsterling.org

Before anyone starts to wonder, I do have a pretty good location picked out. The only problem is that I need to reserve the outside of the place. The place I have in mind is just off US Route 7. About 1hr and 20 from Liberty Mountain in southern Pennsylvania. It is in Sterling VA. I'll have pictures up of the place as soon as I can go take some. It has a decent size field. It is a church that used to be home to a school. The school combined with another school, and moved to the other school's building. The church now has a soccer field, 2 playgrounds, 2 big parking lots, a big hill, and some portable rooms that we can have the war around. Again I'll have pictures up as soon as possible. There are a few people that have agreed to come.

Scared of a little Poison Ivy Slug, I'm just messing with you.

I mean if your place doesn't work we have a great wide open park with a great huge field, trail, creeks and desserted playgrounds. It's fine if we use the place because every 4-5 weeks on a Sunday these people come with foam swords and beat the crap out of each other. Escassets might be able to get somEffeminates but it's a sick place to nerf.
