I was just wondering if a rubberband would work as a o-ring?

Not to my knowledge. If you're using an inverse plunger gun, some duct tape makes a marvelous seal.

I spread some hot glued the inside lip of the place where the O-ring on the Longshot went. Then, I wrapped a rubber band around twice and added hot glue to the second part too. Then I sprayed some lube on it and stuck in in a clear tube that I just had lying around my room. I put my hand on the other end of the tube and pushed back and forth to see if there was a good seal. Surprisingly there was an amazing seal.

I tried the exact thing a little while ago looking for a new seal, it did not work at all. The elasticity would create too much friction and I couldn'y get the dart to leave the barrel.

How about you exeriment and try it yourself instead of ask us? Your specific application for a rubber-band plunger may be different than what you see on here. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

No, this won't work. The rubber that rubberbands are made of will cause too much friction between the plunger and the plunger tube.

It MIGHT, depending on your rubber band. If you're using a very thick band that's 2+ inches unstretched, then it'll just be wayyy too fat. If you're using one of the very small, about 3/5 inch when unstretched rubber bands, you could maybe get a good seal.

No, you can't. It has nothing to do with size, it has everything to do with compound.

You can lube that thing to the brim with K+Y, you still won't be able to get it to shoot due the adscene amount of friction...

ok guys I tested it out on my LS today and it does work if there is alot of lube on the tube . Rokor it worked for me. so the overall results are it works (for me) but not as well as an o-ring.

There's a concept known as reinventing the wheel. If there's already been work done, why bother doing it again?
