While you may not have a 100' tape or a measuring wheel, you most likely have a bike. Go fetch it.
Attach something that will be easy to see as it goes by to the wheel. I used bright orange electric tape.
Now measure the circumference of the wheel. If you don't have a measuring tape, use string, then measure it on a standard 12" ruler.
Mine is 5' and 2".
Now go to a flat area, fire your gun, and slowly roll the bike to the spot the dart(s) landed, counting the number of times the marker that you used went by. Then take that number and multiply it by your circumference, and your will have decent approximate ranges.
Thanks for reading!

Only problem. Some parts of the world spend half the year below freezing...
It's really cold here, too. Just re-pump the tires, and you'll be fine.

I believe he said he slowly rolled the bike.If you have to ride your bike to where the dart landed, you're full of shit.
Yes, OMC knows. It was a joke. He was implying that if you claim that you had to ride your bike to the dart because it was so far away, then you're full of shit because a dart won't go that far.

There is, but one exception, that any of the few MENWar participants can tell you about.
The story is: 1" dart fired vertically out of a plugged 2k, that had been pumped 10 times. Got caught in some sort of strong wind or jetstream. We watched it go for a long ways, before finally falling. When we located it, it was 500-600' away from where it was fired.
True story.

What, you think the dart was made up of 4130 cromoly? It's only foam, a decsent wind would do that. But I can't say that the story isn't intense.
Nice way of geting something like this done. i has planning on making some sort of hand help wheel thingy from a bike wheel exactly like this.

It was INSANE. It flew, and flew, and flew. It grew WINGS.
But nice idea. Same thing as those wheels that you can roll across the ground. Very Clever.
