I found one at goodwill the other day and bought it with intent to sell. While carrying it home I noticed how comfortable it was. Then later I decided to convert it to shoot darts (because I liked it so much). I will attempt to basically put a SNAP type setup into the shell where currently the ring launcher is.
Now to begin;

A picture of the blaster as I found it.

I couldn't find any rings and the yellow piece on top is missing but for the most part it's all there.

Easy to open: only 14 screws.

the purple part with the yellow arrow on it moves (something to do with the rings).

I removed that and the clear one (they come off with no hassle at all).

After removing the two purple parts I found that it has only extension springs.this shows the guts of it.

I'll be keeping the trigger piece.

The stock spring is very powerful; it horribly bent the rod that held it on the yellow slider.


that is all I have done so far.

I have test fitted and decided upon a 1.25" PVC plunger tube (fits perfectly). I would like to maintain the trigger and cocking slide. this restricts me to a 5.5" draw length (adequate).
but, I am having some difficulty with the trigger mechanism; either it will be akin to the longshot's and other stock guns (the notch for the catch is on the plunger rod) or it will be like the SNAP's using a clothespin, etc.

NOTE: My camera is unusable at the moment so if you want more pics I have some but probably not what you would want.

I was kicking around the idea of doing this to my tornado before I sold it. It is really a very comfortable shell. There ought to be enough space in it for a SNAP style springer, and the foregrip is roomy enough to integrate something into it. I would recommend you use the existing plunger cocking mech to prime the gun if you can.

I just need to get my hands on an AT2K or something, the ring holder is already shaped to hold a pump and there is ample internal room for me to run tubing through the entire thing if I wanted to.

I could see this turning into a good primary.


JSB- It would be more of a shame to see these things become entirely useless and end up sitting in a closets or worse. Better Nerf than nothing right?

Ever since I got into modding, I've wanted to do something like this to a Tornado. I'm just horrible and re-engineering trigger mechanisms. I also have never gotten my hands on one.

When I get mine from DBeaver, I'm probably going to put like a 750 or 1500 in it. Never thought of puting a snap in it, though it sounds like it could work.

Quite the slacker's writeup, no? All you have done is the internals..

Anyway, I have this project about half done (significantly farther than you), with the plunger tube/head, spring, and catch mechanisms done. I'm using the stock priming handle though, which restricts the plunger stroke to 4". No clue where you got 5.5" from.
Feel like commenting on how you make any of the stuff work?
