I have kind of a weird problem. I recently drilled out my AR, but I decided to wait to put in an additional spring into it until I had reinforced the bolt sled and replaced the plunger head. So as of right now, I only have a stock spring on the plunger. However, sometimes my trigger plate doesn't catch even though I do not have a spring addition to it. Also, my longshot is REALLY inconsistent with the way it fires. Sometimes the darts go 2 feet, and sometimes they SOAR. I know for a fact that it isn't the darts. Keep in mind that I have the peg from the AR still in place.

So, should I reinforce my trigger plate with an extra spring AND aluminum? And what should I do to make a better seal for the dart in the chamber?

I REALLY want this as my primary, but I fear that the longshot just was not designed for this.

That's pretty much it. I'd love to make a decent primary out of my LS, but it's got way too many complications.

You could re-enforce the catch plate with some pen springs and see if that works out for you. Also, see if every thing is in the right place

If at first you don't succeed, add more epoxy.

I have tried putting another spring on, but it broke off. Am I just stupid?

I glued it with hot glue.

Wes####, many people consider the LS to be a worthy primary, but in the end, it's all about the skill you have to make it one.

As for your problem, you can do what Hereticorp did and hotglue on a couple extra catch springs. Even with another spring in place, I don't see the point in reinforcing the catch, but that's just me. Did you plug the little hole in the bolt? If not, I would do that and when putting it back together make sure that the bolt sled is linned up properly.

Like I said in my post above, I hot glued one and it broke off. Should i just hot glue the shit out of it?
I also plugged the hole in the bolt with hot glue. Everything seems to be in place, but I could be wrong. I don't see how, as I compared it to Captain Slug's pictures and I also took my own photos.

I used Epoxy to attach the springs to reinforce my catch. It might goop down and drip to the sides of the catch, in which that case you need to sand it down and/or cut the area in which it rests bigger. I did both.

A really useful way to reinforce the catch spring is to use the spring from the priming indicator. You know, that little cylinder that turns to show red instead of black to indicate that the gun is primed. You can cut this spring to half the size, and it fits nicely right over the stock catch spring. Then, the little bar that must be pressed to roll the cylinder and be hot glued in place to hold the springs tightly against the shell of the gun. This is very hard to exlpain without pictures, so I'm sorry if it seems confusing :/
